a positvely negatively humerous thread is what it is phil & guys

and i look forward to making further contributions on the successes of the opposition ...

and i am predicting labor could become, over the years, the most proficient opposition since the beazley-latham years

i'm pretty positive about that i think maybe perhaps but who knows   Wink

Are you implying that this thread is negative?

Looks like Greg Hunt is causing all sorts of confusion for business by insisting the carbon tax will be gone from 1 July - companies must work to the laws of the land.  If any repeal of the tax hasn't passed parliament before that time companies must pay the carbon tax.  He is creating sovereign risk imo

--- well that was the election promise made to the people of australia if they elected the Libs and threw out Labor
only a Gillard type would backflip on their promise to the people and ...
labor would best to understand that ... ie  the electorate want gillard's useless for the environment co2 tax gone

companies must work to the laws of the land.  If any repeal of the tax hasn't passed parliament before that time companies must pay the carbon tax.

--- absolutely correct womble .. the only money grubber refusing to pay up is clive palmer who is challenging gillard's useless tax in the high courts
... however, clive, despite your billions you don't deserve to be a politician if you don;t respect the laws of the land - pay up - and see what happens after your court case (the ATO have already slapped a $6 million 'late fee fine' on top of his tax bill for late payment Grin

He is creating sovereign risk imo

--- not sure what that means mate ?

....... but have the Libs become the REAL greens in our country ... where were brown/milne and gillard/rudd (lol) when the antarctic needed assistance ... missing in action imo Confused

http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/19429329/aust-pushes-for-antarctic-protected-areas/

A powerful bloc of nations, including Australia, the US and France, are ramping up pressure on Russia to support the establishment of marine protected areas in the Southern Ocean, the Ross Sea and east Antarctica.

Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop and US Secretary of State John Kerry released a joint statement on Wednesday with their counterparts from New Zealand, France and the commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Union.

.... come on milne .. fotget the fake for the environment co2 tax and support some REAL environment action

Labor and the Greens have to back their supporters wishes and block the removal of a price of pollution - they would be crucified if they didn't

I think Clive's big bill is why he wants it not only repealed but backdated as well - good luck with that.  It will cost billions to just remove, would be billions more to pay it all back

Sovereign risk is the phrase the Liberals threw around willy nilly for the last 6 years - traditionally it means governments creating risk by taking away certainty

Real action costs money, the only question is who should pay

By:

it's a damn shame ... and i have no idea why this new govt doesn't get it right for their citizens

they should have at least set up a dedicated tv channel similar to tvn following all the illegal boat arrivals

instead of making our citizens have to wait for the weekly reports all the legal citizens of our country could have a 24 hr tv broadcast of the boats coming in

interested citizens could then plan their annual holidays around the peak season of boat arrivals and sit at home watching the dedicated channel

the public service might be the most affected though ... with many excited employees unable to wait for their holidays and just sneeking in a sickie or two to watch the new Illegal Boat Arrival Channel

why gillard didn't think of this in her final days is beyond me ... she could have sold advertising on the 24 hour a day Illegal Boat Arrival Channel which could have paid for some of the accomodation she arranged for the illegal asylum seekers once they had been deployed off shore by her

in fact why gillard didn't take it one step further is beyond me ... but this clearly spelled the end of her reign of terror (when her own party dumped & discarded her) ... why didn't she just introduce A NEW TAX on ... illegal asylum boat seekers

gillard already subscribes to the put a price on it and then all your problems are solved theory of economic govt[/b]
(tho maybe get someone who could add up unlike her #2 man swanny would be best to handle the finacial details)

an illegal asylum boat arrival tax was the answer to all gillard & labor woes ... how did gillard and labor not see this solution ... (as it was a solution they have used elsewhere to fix an important issue Laugh )

it ain't rocket science julia ... make the illegals pay a tax ... and that will STOP THEM COMING
(the gillard theory of How To Solve Real World Problems)

not introducing a 24 hour a day tv channel for illegal asylum boat seeker arrivals ... that was your mistake julia .. just think you could still be PM now    Wink

i'm not that fussed about the weekly reporting of boat arrivals BUT i think we deserve to know more quickly when there are incidents and lives are put at risk, especially lives of Australia military or staff - e.g. there was apparently an incident on Manus Island this week - no details have been released - it's a disgrace AngryAngryAngry

Thebas - do you seriously believe an increased price doesn't change behaviour???

only for people who can't afford something

a tax that differentiates between the rich and the poor is poor policy

fancy driving your citizens back to 3rd world living by pricing something out of their range but not others

when there is a major agreed problem ... ACTION should be taken .. NOT money should be taken

and specifically ... re the co2 and the long con plan for the ETS (the real con)

if those that see a problem think price will solve a problem ... then why would the money grubs (like al gore) be investing their money in a carbon trading firm and NOT a renewables firm ?

what do they know that the tricked citizens dont ?

the real plan can only be .. to burn more and more coal and emit more and more co2 ... the REAL plan

else the informed money would be going into ... an alternative energy source (and one THAT currently exists)

shame about the environment  Cry
By:

the regressive nature of the tax was addressed by the compensation paid to those at the lower end with some being over compensated

the price impact has been dramatically over stated by some - CPI barely moved

a lot of people with some money have it because they are tight arsed penny pinchers - if they can save a dollar by turning off a few lights they'll do it - if the carbon tax encouraged that change it's a good thing imo

what are your thoughts on the alternative Thebas - i.e. Direct Action

here's what some from industry think

By:

When: 19 Oct 13 00:15
AIG just want a low set price ...

compensation means peoples bahvaiour wont be affected .. business as usual .. keep burning the coal

the TRICK .. is the money the game players have planned to make

and none of it has ONE thing to do with the environment  Sad

here's what the IPCC think

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2010/11/18/un-ipcc-official-we-redistribute-worlds-wealth-climate-policy

First of all, developed countries have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community.

But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy.

Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this.

One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy.

This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.

Tony Abbott on Whyalla and the Carbon Tax.

...Whyalla will be wiped off the map by Julia Gillard’s carbon tax. Whyalla risks becoming a ghost town, an economic

wasteland, if this carbon tax goes ahead and that’s true not just of Whyalla, it’s also true of Port Pirie,

it’s true of Gladstone, it’s true of communities in the Hunter Valley and the Illawarra in New South Wales,

it’s true of Kwinana in Western Australia, it’s true of the LaTrobe Valley, Portland, places

like that in Victoria. There’s not a state and there’s hardly a region in this country that wouldn’t have major communities devastated by a carbon tax if this goes ahead...

Sky News Interview with Tony Abbott July 29, 2009

I also think that if you want to put a price on carbon, why not just do it with a simple tax? Why not ask motorists to pay more, why not ask electricity consumers to pay more[/b] and then at the end of the year you can take your invoices to the tax office and get a rebate of the carbon tax you've paid.

He was either lying then or he's lying now

Either way he can't be believed on anything he says. Devil

http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/huge-jobs-blow-as-1-billion-whyalla-mineral-processing-plant-scrapped/story-e6frfkp9-1226625701363

WHYALLA residents will be resilient in the face of another blow to its economy after Arafura's decision to scrap plans for a $1 billion minerals processing plant, its mayor says.

It's another major blow for the region following BHP Billiton's decision to defer its Olympic Dam expansion and the decision by Deepak Fertilisers to withdraw plans for an ammonia nitrate processing complex - all worth billions and with major economic spin-offs.

What happened to the Budget Emergency the Liberal Party lied about.?

Why is Hockey increasing the debt limit?

When they went to the election screaming about Labor's debt, and how many millions a day we were paying back.

Why is he increasing this debt?

climate change is very real ... why not do seomething then

... if those that hold the cards believe it is ONLY co2 (and the latest ipcc 5 year in the making document is not as clear cut from the scientists viewpoint as the propoganda machine behind it wishes to portray - you only have to look at their own graphs to see that) then why not STOP the co2 and move to currently available alternatives

it is the Money Making out of the co2 that is the grimy trick behind the scammers & the rorters
