Keef was right to be scornful of Led Zep. Most overrated band of all time. Maybe five good CHOONS in 'em. Stairway To Heaven unbearably pretentious and impossible to listen to anymore.

what the fck would keef know, but have to agree Led Zep only had a couple of songs that did it for me, as my thing wasnt really hard rock. but they wher pretty sick muso's, how could u forget Page's axe riff's in "Black Dog" nad Plants vocals in "Whole lotta Love" and the down beat range of "Ten years gone". Essentially a high octane live band that whipped me into a frenzy in 73' in NY along with the 1000s of 60-70s head bangers of the time

One of your best OldCrow! Four bands 'stand alone'. That's right up there with the race car caller who said,'that car is absolutely unique, except for the one next to it which is identical'!!

The Stones rule. They've been irrelevant for 30 years but from '65-'78 they made plenty of stuff that stands above today's music (and no, I'm not old)

Irrelevant? IRRELEVANT???!!! Who DARES to use the word 'irrelevant' on the Stones thread??
STREET FIGHTING MAN 1968 Originally banned in the States when released as a single. Driven by Keef's acoustic guitar it's an absolute classic and will NEVER be 'irrelevant'!! |

great stuff roy ... a classic cut that one live
... the song brings me back to ... gram pasrons .... each time i hear it ... gram co-wrote the melody with keef .. on a Uk visit that descended into a long smack-fest for both ... with gram passing on eventually back in the states after the burritos broke down ... .. a potted story on gram's funeral pire was done in the movie .. Grand Theft Parsons ... with Johnny Knoxville as the erascible Phil Kaufman i can't help posting the gram/burritos link to the same song .. the burritos were first to vinyl witheir version .. courtesy of the Stones approval .. a different style of country flavour .. more acoustic than electric ... with some great video shots of a young Gram http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07oufBC_JjQ&feature=related |
