Anyone give this a chance at 260/1 on here? 2nd in Scottish National from a higher mark. His latest run is a bit worrying but he's always been inconsistent and could return to form if we get better ground at Aintree.

Wouldn't think he'd run. Don't think he'd be suited to the fences. He's shown he likes the course, if it was normal fences I'd like him. The Scottish National is the one I thought he be aimed at, running in National won't help that.

Ah thank you. Was the sort of informative answer I was looking for. Scottish National weights not out yet then? would explain his last run!

I have to say that this is one of my favourite horses. He dug me out of a huge hole in 2008, Id already done the walk of shame to the cash machine and hadnt had a squeak all day. Auroras was 33s in places but I spotted 50s, hed fallen in his 2 previous races, Id convinced myself that this was a positive. We positioned ourselves by the winning post, our lucky spec. Aurora surged into the lead, my bro turned to me "Jay is that yours", I couldnt speak, Aurora stormed home, it was one of my biggest wins and my mate had followed me in. The bookie was pig sick "how did you pick that".
Another barnstorming victory came at Haydock last year. I was there again, 12/1 - Another big win. A fantastic performance followed in the Scottish Grand National, I was on at a big price. Aurora ran his heart out, surged into the lead, but that Merigo fought back bravely and collared Aurora on the line.
If you go through the form book, it is clear Aurora is a "spring" horse, March is his month. Im on at 100s and 207s on Betfair. It looks like hes going to get in. Hes got a great weight, loves this time of year, wasnt stopping over 4 miles at Ayr, hopefully he will run a blinder if he runs.

Sue Smith has said both Auroras Encore and Mr Moonshine will run if they get in and the ground is okay. Ryan Mania will have the pick the two of them.

Ordinary completion rate round park fences doesn't augur well for national fences imho

He's over 100/1 though so what if he does take to fences? Must have a chance from this mark.

I agree that jumping is the primary concern here, his completion rate isnt the best. Hopefully he will take to the fences.

Aye it is a concern but how many times do you see a well handicapped gtd stayer at 100/1!

Just watched last years Scottish national, jumped great, ran a blinder. He was well clear with Merigo.

Ground is going to be perfect for Auroras.  Just hope he has been well schooled.

I wish I would have backed him when I posted but stuck £10 on at 117 average odds. At least I know he's going for it now I suppose.

I backed him with bookies NRNB, but it was safer.  If he wins I'll be happy as long as he doesn't beat Rare Bob into 2nd.

You're a hard fellow to please Shockster, I can't think of many scenarios when I'd be disappointed with a 50-1+ winner.
Great chance on last years SN form doesn't he? Problem is, he hasn't reproduced that, or any, form since. To be fair, he hasn't had his ground, but there's nothing at all this season to give you hope, it's a leap of faith. But as a proven stayer suited by the ground and notably well handicapped on his 4 miles form, there are certainly worse outsiders.

I have backed him, expecting him to fall, but if he gets round could out run his odds

It is a leap of faith but he ran some awful races last year before bouncing back to form. I just that anything over 100/1 for which a case can be made for is worth having a couple of pound on.

Yeah, can't argue with that, he's green on my screen. I'd love him to win too. Sue Smith made me lunch at her house one day about 25 years ago when I was a Student trying to get a business of the ground, lovely lady, so unassuming.

To be fair Barry AE ows me nothing. When he scored at Aintree 5 years ago (can't believe its so long) at 50/1 it was third up in a lucky15. So have had a soft spot for him.  Incosistent but you never know. Rare Bob pays a lot more though, however cofidence waining as last race is not working out at all.

Would be nice if could win it but her recent form doesn't read too well either. Shame as I was tempted on an e/w double Stagecoach Pearl and Auroras Encore. 50/1 and 100/1 now that would have been a leap of faith :D

That's what you need when you have a 10-1 shot - another 50-1 shot to double it up with!
Think 50-1 is poor value on Stagecoach tbh, he's been appalling this season.

Stagecoach ran the same as he has all year sadly. Form of the yard is a real worry. Gansey runs in the Topham tomorrow and one at Sedgefield, last chances for a confidence boosting performance. Gansey has much the same chance as Little Josh on their CD form on similar ground in the autumn and is 40-1, but that's probably a fair reflection of the respective form of the two yards.

The fences look soft, hopefully this will help Aurora with keeping upright!
