Today's best scores come from the bottom half where, deep down below, Grunfeld is finally off the mark with a 7/4,

but still shrouded in gloom.

A 13/8 lifts The Sicillian to 15th

whilegeneral custer charges up to 17th with a 6/4

and Major Ballsup drills into 14th with an 11/8.

It's been a day of shorts, not least our leader Catalina and his closest rival Baracouda going toe to toe in a tussle the former marginally won, even if barra's now on eight straight. But Shaboombaby pulls himself up to third and Even Steven edges closer to the places at sixth. And finally, Darley Abbey squeezes his way up to eighth.
