The racing post often has silly and pathetic headlines not so today
It’s the dream derby A big field a wide open race a host of potential superstars Absolutely spot on the best derby since Troy in 1979 whilst we had some disappointing ones in recent years it’s still my number one race in the world numbers 2 to 36 take place in 10 days time I wouldn’t live to see pride of arras win Today’s bet is 5 ew mon na slieve 545 Doncaster Good luck everyone and enjoy the derby |
|
By:
Yes cracking race they are all running at present
Like a few Baldings horses today one will be my selection I liked the Dante race? |
|
By:
Going for Way Of Stars 6.15 Donny 4/1 at present
Dante 2 originally quite happy for Damysus to turnover Pride Of Arras but softer going may be more of advantage to POA |
|
By:
The Great Griff performance by Nawshan think it was 100/1 at the time some inspirational tipping
bet you were really excited at the 2f pole ..... ![]() |
|
By:
I would have won a lot if it caught the winner but happy enough, nice points for us

Very well done nawshan great pick and you got a real thrill around the two furlong marker ,
Apologies team for picking a very inconsistent horse yesterday. Regarding the derby it wasn’t really what I was hoping for the 2000 Guinea winner been pulled out didn’t help the race although that is royal ascots gain, only two runners really from a long way out,I must been honest after seeing the Chester vase the furthest thing from my mind was those two would finish in the same order at Epsom however I’m pleased as I like the Chester vase a race as a young lad I saw Shergar win.epsom seems to be getting a lot of stick for the racing well I really enjoyed the racing and look forward to seeing many of the horses again for the remainder of the season . |

A very interesting and unusual Derby in my experience jimnast
its left more future puzzles than any Derby I can remember Tennessee Stud - how good could he be given a level start Stanhope Gardens - a very rushed preparation could yet improve further Delacroix - made rapid ground until Moore gave up a lost cause The Lion In Winter - rushed prep needs a big break to see if he trained on, best distance? Ruling Court - also best distance remains an unknown 10? I thought your sprinter got lit up & just went too fast too early besides those bunch of 5 in the middle all died a death Onwards |
|
By:
Before I forget jimnast
The in-running betting for that 1969 Derby would have been interesting For both Troy & Dickens Hill And the rematch at the Curragh Carson was scrubbing the ears of it from 4f out for 3f if I remember for both races I was at the Curragh that day a d/FC that never looked likely ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
Especially when blakeney came and beat them both captain
![]() Some at the time not me believed the toilet roll frightened troy into quickening so much that day ,can’t really remember the Irish derby that year I will try and get it on YouTube |
|
By:
Other puzzles from the derby was the running of the first and 2nd in the dante I realise pride of arras didn’t handle the track but even so that was a shocking run ,
Time will tell about the strength of the race my first thoughts were I overrated the race beforehand. |
|
By:
Just another 10 year slip not unusual for me these days jimnast
![]() ![]() If you want to rewatch them jimnast (toilet roll & all was on another white colored runner Im sure) type into youtube 1979 Derby Troy full movie 1979 Irish Sweeps Derby Troy full movie also Classic W.Carson Epsom explains why he came from 14th place I cant quite believe Dante form Damysus got injured in stalls so maybe some genuine excuses coming forward Enjoy & onwards |

well done raspberry yesterday
wild card choice today is diligent resdev 150 york not sure about the draw but fingers crossed. have a nice weekend everybody |
|
By:
Hi all, I am going 16.45 York with an ew bet in a Sprint where the draw plays a key par. 12 of the last 17 winners were drawn 5 or lower. Many placed horses from low numbers so purely a stat play.
