I really don't think the presence in ANOTHER team of somebody you don't like should affect us. I THINK I know who the pair of you are talking about but I no longer spend much time on HR and have alway tried to treat Your Comps as a bastion of sanity even when I was in my very combative period elsewhere.

Quite agree Mr Salmon, it would be a shame for us to lose 2 or 3 players all for the sake of another teams problem.

im in salmon and DG/MAD we all know who/what he is and wot he does on an almost daily basis  but divnt  be letting him win by bailing out cos he is in comp - as we know it was me he wished those kind blessings on even though id been fighting the fooker for some 6 yrs but its water off a ducks back to me cos woteva shy te he spouts on ere has little to no impact on me in real life and his comments just press home wot a "character" he is on here and wot a "person" he must be in real life.

Im sure if i can put aside my feelings towards him you two lads can also do so for the sake of the humbugs and salmons sanity so as he doesnt hav to go out looking for new recruits

On the one hand Betfair banned you, and you really shouldn't be here. Right or wrong, and I'm not judging, your presence in the comp has been/could be disruptive due to clashes with more than one player.
On the other hand, I have no problem with you personally, you captained a winning team, I don't like the social media banning culture, and there is an off button for anyone offended by your posts.

I have messaged present TOFTL captain, N-east Correspondent but haven't heard back yet.

I'm tending to take the view that a couple of the players you have had a spat with are prepared to take part anyway, the others could maybe block seeing your posts?
We can then just get on with enjoying the comp and all participants would endeavour to keep it civil.


The other issue is no. of teams and size of teams.
Just 27 players have checked back in so far, I expect a few more but I have doubts we'll fill 7 teams of 8, might have to go 7 teams of 7 or 6 teams of 8.
We'll give it another week.

We are nearly there ( the Humbugs that is) . We have recruited pedro39a. DIFERENT GRAVY has however withdrawn on principle,I'll make no further comment on that except that I quite understand.
We therefore have 6 definites and the hope that madhatters will carry on though he has similar feelings to DG. He was however intending to carry on but that was before you know who was definitely playing. I'm still waiting to see if Norfolk shows but I fear hope is fading. I'm not going to actively recruit for the moment except to put in a claim for Jinxy1 (another very old friend of a few of us ) if we have room and nobody else wants him.

More than happy to join you Salmon Spray You were full up last time I seem to remember so I was allocated elsewhere.

I'd love to have you Jinxy but I'm still playing around with numbers.

Can the Humbugs have Jinxy1 please. He may have been in another team in years gone by but he isn't currently a member. He has a lot of contacts amongst the Humbugs and would have joined us before if we hadn't been full.
That would take us to 7. madhatters isn't that keen but will play if we need to make the numbers up to 8.

As the two least populated teams, and the newest to the comp, much as I'd hate to but if we need through lack of numbers, to drop to 6 teams, we'd need to look at some sort of merger.
There is no-one new waiting to join in, by all means see if you can recruit, but we need to see progress in the next week or so.

Numbers are up to 44, two weeks out from projected start, which is good, but I don't see us getting to 56.

We now have 2 team of 8, 2 teams of 7, 1 team of 6, 1 team of 5, and 1 team on 3.

Are we heading towards the unfortunate reduction of teams from 7 to 6?

Sent out messages to the missing Shrewdies but at the time of writing, I've received no replies. I hope Sont & Swad can find good homes with one of the other teams who are short? Both would be a real asset to any team. The liquidators are moving in, the changing rooms have been given one final sweep and the gates at Team Shrewdies HQ will be closed for good. A very sad day!

We are now up to 46 players and that includes the three Shrewdies who I'd like to guarantee get a spot in the comp.
If as looks likely we are down to 6 teams, that leaves two spots for any latecomers.

Undecided, I just posted on the Shrewdies thread, if you need someone to make the numbers up then you can count me in, if not, no problem

Up to 48 now, don't feel I can cut a team so going to recruit on HR and meesage any past players still about.

Sontaram Stratagem ( Big SS ) suggested we try the footie forum. I think that is a good idea. I also think he may be the best known of us on there so it might be worth asking him to do it.

There are 7 teams of 8, you would be assigned to a team for which you would be required to make 1 Win or EW selection per week, any time Sunday to Saturday (3pm cut-off). The competition runs for 16 weeks and it's all fully explained in the rules at the start of this thread.

Just remembered that I feel the place terms of "industry standard" could be improved to more align with what the bookies offer for the big handicaps at Cheltenham and Royal Ascot.
I will "pay" 5 places for any handicap of 20 runners or more.

Would that be at 1/4 odds?
