The blockbusters came, then they petered out, and disappeared completely at the end. In fact, not a single winner today so it's very much as you were.
Which means our champion is the doughty Longshot Louie. He knocked in a 10/1 in week one, a 20/1 mid-month and a 14/1 a week later, rounded off with a somewhat out-of-character 7/4 six days ago. Profit of £22 ain't half bad. Very well done Lou!
Then there's the great Nijinsky. Took a sneaky break a few days back - apparently she was hungry or something - but that didn't stop the inestimable Mrs Shane from bagging second. It was a 22/1 early doors that set the tone but a 6/1 and 15/2 in the last five days made it a cert.
tictacman1 in third, a great competition stalwart, books another trip to the bright lights of Div 2 with five scores in all, two of them blockbusters: 18/1 and 11/1. Div 2s gain is our loss. But ticcy is famous for his Terminator impression 'I'll be back'. Try to stay up this time Mr T!
The same goes for undecided, Mr Stats and a super comp veteran. His standout score of 18/1 came in week two but three other very decent scores were enough to ensure fourth.
And than there's good old scissors in fifth. I shall miss snippy greatly for his barbed comments, his constant mispelling of my name, his Sunday bragging, but most of all his good sense of fun. Not a man of blockbusters - small and regular is his game and it worked a treat this month with the month's highest strike rate of 50%.
Very well done to all five and hard luck everyone else. But it wouldn't have been so much fun without you guys making a great competition of it, so many thanks.
A final word on the sad passing of one of our great competitors pumphol, who also posted as panglima in this division. He was an excellent napster and a real gentleman and will be sorely missed. RIP.
And thanks for all your kind messages.

Better Luck in Sept to everyone else ..
Pumphy was my closest “friend” on here and
will indeed be very sorely missed ..
I knew him first through the Quiz Leagues where he
was up near the Top with a very similar and twinlike Quiz knowledge to myself ..
He appeared on so many Tv Quiz progs and unfortunately didnt do his Quiz knowledge
any favours on them .. he should have won a few of the progs imo ..
RIP Pumphy .. you have gone far too soon mate ..
my sincerest condolences to his Family and Friends .
