George has put us in a (very) good position, but it would nice to get points from at least one of the four remaining selections just to seal it.

Thanks, I don't think the course or draw really helped him, but it's a few more points. Shame you don't get more points for the number of horses beaten.

Another unbelievable result. Pretty sure Adayar was there to set a strong pace for Hurricane Lane, but he was too slow to get to the front. Hurricane Lane ran well but didn't handle the track. I presume they will have another bash at the Curragh. At least all the ante-post bets produced a small return. Hard to know what to make of a race where the second should have been a million.

Trading around 60 15 mins before the off on here, gets backed in to under 20.
Had the coffin box draw. Hugh Taylor tipped the one that beat it at Lingfield. Apparently very much the stable second string.

Had another look and it seems as if only the front two have stayed the trip. The last thing I would have had Hurricane Lane down as was a non stayer. By Frankel out of a two mile winner on heavy ground from the family of Seal Of Approval. On that he should be getting the Leger trip.
The money for Adayar was strange given he had a bad draw, didn't take the prelims that well, and could easily have just been on pacemaker duty. I did consider him yesterday - 22/1 six places - but left him alone on the basis I was very strong on Hurricane Lane, and if he was set to make the pace he could easily have dropped away to nothing. It almost certainly worked to his advantage that he wasn't quick enough away to get to the lead.

On the positive front it looks as if china has got a freebie. We haven't been able to say that for a while. Only four scores so far today, and we got two of them, including the one that mattered. Same again next week George.

Bad luck china. Poor effort from the jock. Had he closed off the rail I think he would have held on.
Couple we might have gone each way on today if we had known George was going to put up a 28/1 winner, but it didn't matter.
Maybe I should have mentioned the wooden spoon a bit earlier.
Well done Pins. Let's try and back this up.

Hats off to George B whose 28/1 cracker at weekend took his total points tally for the team (from his own selections- don't know if any wildcards played by him) has passed 500.00 (501.00 actually)
Out of a team total of 986.21 thats pretty impressive!!
Outstanding George B

George's groupies out in force. Nice to know that people are so interested that they keep individual scores of other teams. I presume Shane has done something similar?
Perhaps next time George should have his own team, rather than slum it with the rest of us?

Only just watched it back. Very disappointing, jock always appeared to be doing too much, initially from four wide. Strange, considering his own ability, that Joseph appears clueless when it comes to jocks. It's almost as if he puts his pals up.

So much racing this week, but as regards betting it is utter rubbish.
I have looked at the next two days and considered Duke Of Hazzard and Run To Freedom, but they will probably be even shorter than this one. She won a very poor race at Southwell very easily, and this race doesn't look any better. It is surprising that she seems to be the only one drifting. Perhaps she was revved for that debut, and she will never win again, we shall see.
Good luck, I think we might need it given what's on offer.

Thanks all, other teams had a few winners today, but nothing too significant.
We still have six shots to keep us in contention for Ascot week. Not easy tomorrow, but let's give it a good go.

My great great grandfather died at the battle of little bighorn. Although he wasn't actually involved in the battle itself, he was camping out in the field next door. He went across to complain about the noise and some b*stard shot him!

Already backed plenty at prices at this week, but for the purposes of the competition will be putting one up tomorrow. Two reasons: after Wednesday the ground becomes an unknown, and if we are to have any chance I think we need to get back in the mix sooner rather than later. Putting up loads of big prices in one go at the end of week and we could easily end up with nothing. Might not work, but if it does, there won't be the same pressure to go big.

Lots of duck eggs, but I am hoping that they are mainly due to the ground rather than any idea that he might have 'gone'. Weld has had a few decent stayers over the years and showed he hadn't lost it by winning the Chester Cup. You wouldn't have thought he would have booked Keane for a total dud, and those duck eggs have enabled him to be the last one in. That said like many handicaps here there is a very small weight range. I had visions of him going off 12/1 or shorter, but at the moment the price is holding up at around 20/1. Hopefully, he can put us back in the game.
Good luck all.

Good luck Differentdrum, judging by his SP on his reappearance run at the Curragh, no doubt this has been the target.
Keane does seem to be riding for Weld quite a bit in Ireland this season, and I've just had a look, he's had 62 rides for Weld so far this season and seven winners. So there would appear to be some arrangement in place when he's not required by Ger Lyons.
Their winner yesterday, Tazaral, a half-brother to Tarnawa, was quite impressive the way he took off and powered clear inside the final furlong.

The omens are not good. Supported down to the price I expected, but today they can't give it away 11/1-28/1. Those sort rarely do anything, but let's hope this is an exception.

Never a prayer of even finishing close to the places. May as well have stayed in his box. He hasn't completely gone so presumably, he is one of those horses who wants good ground, but won't let himself down on good to firm. That would explain the drift as the ground firmed up.
Whatever, it wasn't what we wanted or needed.
Good luck to everyone else.

Thanks Andrew, will be a bit of a lottery now rain has persisted. Maybe should have gone with Rhythm Master 3.05 Tomorrow 33s 365 , will relish conditions.

I've gone for Princesse Mathilde, on the nose, 4.00 Down Royal, top priced currently 20-1.
Princesse Mathilde was formerly trianed in France, and she caught the eye on her debut for Joseph O'Brien at Sligo last month when seemingly travelling well round the inner but getting no sort of run in the straight and losing all chance.
She has since run at Leopardstown where she failed to confirm the impression that she may be well handicapped mare, even allowing for the fact that she was caught a little wider than ideal round there. The winner of the Leopardstown race, Solene Lilyette, had been due to line up here too and Princess Mathilde would have been a stone better off at the weights with her, but she's a NR now.
I'm not sure tbh how solid this selection is given it is based on what might have happened at Sligo with a clear run, but a chance is taken at the prices given this will be only her third start for Jospeh O'Brien.

I was torn between a win on Nahaar in the Diamond Jubilee or an EW on Indogo Balance in the Wokingham at silly odds, deciding on the latter. Form wise i preferred the first one, but i ended the last comp on a 10/1 winner so hoping for deja vu.
Good luck all to play.
I didn't see Happysandwiches selection on the main thread, i can post it.

Very well done buddy, incredible run and points total.
I`ve been holding the award for the pin of the year, you just scraped home ahead of me George
Congrats George, richly deserved.

Well done guys, we managed to win the last couple of rounds, so good to end the comp on a high!
Thanks for the kind words, and cheers captain, that will take pride of place on my mantelpiece

Apologies for not turning up sooner. To be fair I wasn't expecting another miracle.
Although George again rightly takes the plaudits - no doubt more groupies to fend off - it looks to me as if we were unlucky not to pick up even more points than we ended up with. As I suggested on the main thread I thought Glen Shiel would have gone even closer with Art Power's draw. He was one of 12 places I had at Ascot this week at 9/1 and above. A hugely frustrating week to add to a hugely frustrating year.
So we ended up fourth and not a million miles off second, but to be fair we were never at the races. Without George's contributions we would probably have been propping up the table. That said on a positive note the team spirit remained good, we kept battling, and probably ended with one of our strongest weeks. Hopefully, we can carry that forward into the next competition.

I agree with DD, a little disappointing overall this time and i think my input went from average to poor to abysmmal over the weeks, although playing catch up with long prices is not really my thing, i get it right once every pancake day. .
