Odds-on isn't the issue, everyone is fully entitled to nap whatever they want and if you/me/others can't get above them then that is our problem not theirs. The real issue is one bloke picking the same nap five times a day under five different names for every day of the month except for the blindfolded 'lucky pin' guess on the last day. I really dont see why this is accepted.
Still, the 12 month rolling naps table is the true measure of worth and none of the 'shortest priced favourite of the day = my nap' merchants will ever win that with their strategy. The shorter they pick them the better it is for anyone that actually wants to win the Premier Division rather than just not get relegated from it.

I concur!

There have always been some multi-runner "stables" in the Naps Comp. The late mini me was the most obvious but there are/have been quite a few others that I am aware of,and probably some that I am not. The difference is Jesus and the disciples with one break when I think madhatter got to them/him have been picking the same horse every day for a long time now. I must admit it annoys me somewhat as well, but I'm not sure what you do about it. Betfair aren't about to tell the settlers who have multiple accounts and even they don't know where some people pick for relatives/friends. It is what it is.

You don't have to have multiple Betfair accounts to have more than one competition persona. With the napscomp@gmail option, you can make names up and enter Division 3 with them. If you make decent selections with them, you could work them through to the Prem and adopt big_keef's strategy. You could do this if you had a mind to but it would be a lot of work each day and surely there's better things to do. I think the rules would cope even if a lot of people did it - we have tiebreak rules. But the ridiculous extreme is that eventually every competitor in the Prem is governed by one mail-in poster who has 30 personas and they all choose the same odds-on selection every day. I don't think the rules would cope with that but it's probably several decades into the future anyhow.

Lol. As those old enough to remember may realise I followed Bob Turnell's stable in the mid to late 60s. Expect to see The Laird,Buona Notte,Rondetto,Flash Bulb,Beau Normand and Meon Valley in Div 3 next month

From a personal perspective, I don't care what division I'm in as undecided's NAPS STATS are the only tables I'm interested in!
As madhatter says,

How does betfair come into this issue? The settlers can surely run the competition how they like?...betfair wont give a toss. Just tell the poster to pick different horses each day for his five multiple personalities or you will drop four of his names from the competition

As I've said madhatter I am a bit uncomfortable with this particular issue but, unless you ban everybody you suspect of having more than one username I don't see how you can tell somebody what they can and cannot pick.

Salmon, I agree - you can't stop people from having more than one name/account but there is big difference between suspecting and knowing. Unless of course you truly think that it's all pure co-incidence that five people always have the same nap posted on the same email. I think Reged has two or three entries? And smirnoff. But they don't put up the same horse for every username every day as far as I am aware!

There's a few more as well. It would be difficult to know where to draw the line. The mini me commune must have run to about 12 competitors. They didn't all pick the same horse but I suspect there were days when 5 or more did. Should they have been disallowed ?

Is it impacting on the long term future of the competition?
Does it deter newbies from joining the competition?
Is it in the spirit of the competition? I know of certain shenanigans that haven`t been.
How can we improve the naps competition?
As always, the settlers are the guardians and there views are paramount.
The questions we have to ask ourselves are:Is it impacting on the long term future of the competition?Does it deter newbies from joining the competition? Is it in the spirit of the competition? I know of certain shenanigans that haven`t been. How can w
Of course the selections for the napsters named in the title all come from the same email address. I don't think that's a secret. But I don't feel it's possible to force people to choose different selections for the aliases they control. People would then come up with different email addresses for different personas and you'd be back to square 1.
As far as picking short prices goes, well if you want to stay in the Premier and not get relegated then unfortunately that's the best strategy. It ensures you won't make a big loss and there's usually at least half a dozen people who are more adventurous than you who will be below you in the table. I wish it wasn't the best strategy but with our current rules it is. Which is why so many do it.
Personally I would vote for a rule that could be applied after the final day. It would automatically drop to 26th position(and therefore relegate) the person outside the top 5 who picks the lowest average winning price over the month. Provided that was odds-on. It would disincentivise people from going for shorties all the time. And would make it more difficult to maintain a stable block permanently in the Premier league.

Shanelee1966 • September 7, 2020 5:25 PM BST Have a price cap, say 1/2
Anything that price or lower that wins is returned a n/r (£0), if it loses then -£1
F*ck me, the whole of the 'elite' division would pack it in!

I never pick shorties but this all seems very unfair on those that do. It's a free world and you should be allowed to pick whatever price you want.
The issue for me is still the job lot of jesus and his disciples.

Unfortunately, or probably fortunately, I have rarely strayed into the premiership, but I’m sure I’m not alone thinking I’m not exactly missing anything, I think it would drive me mad with the negative mustn’t get relegated got to stay here at all costs, that’s asides the multiple user names. - I feel sorry for the few players in the premiership who do try to play the competition in the spirit it surely was intended.
Anyone would think there was cash at stake.
I’d let anyone who feels they really want to be in the premiership at all costs stay there, no relegation from and no promotion to this promised land and let them bore themselves to death, and leVe it to the other divisions to enjoy a competition in a positive and enjoyable format.

I am in danger of the drop making genuine selections, 7th bottom with these 5 under me.
If one of the bottom 5 (real people) reels me in then fair play.
If these car hunts pick a 3/1+ and all pick the same horse that would be rude
