I have been running this for a while on HR but it has been about as popular as Meghan Markel at Balmoral so it's back here. The round-up of ex-Humbugs yielded 6 but I'm afraid others seem to have disappeared for one reason or another. The old hands are : Lampus smirnoff2therescue ( shearer cloned ) the dealer hoof hearted system99 ( welcome back to my predecessor as capt ) salmon spray.
I have been wheeling and dealing and have two new recruits to make us up to eight. I don't think either need much introduction but please welcome ( FANFARE ) TheNorfolkMAfia GLASGOWCALLING.
We may be a motley crew but I think we are a good value bet for this. Please feel free to post on here,I will be issuing further instructions nearer the start which is Aug 9th.
Had the word for this locally trained horse lto, jumped and won well enough, hoping his experience will be good
enough to beat the 2nd fav bumper horse.

Well we are 3rd and at first glance handily placed, but we have used the most selections. Lampus, hoof hearted and myself to go. Which does put a lot of pressure on hh. Sorry about that.

I'm going for Domino Darling in the 3.55 at Newmarket to win. Will be a bit short but if it is fit should win. No ground worries, indeed it might have been waiting for soft. G/l to my fellow HUMBUGS

Well at least we got a couple of winners this last week. We are 5th but still in touch. I'm sorry your captain is imitating First World War generals and leading from his HQ 20 miles from the front-line. But we are the MIGHTY HUMBUGS and it's onwards and upwards.

None of the other teams scored yesterday either so no great harm done. We remain 5th but we could do with finishing higher than that in this round. I've been trying to get our cheerleaders back but I have to break it to Lampus that Kathy Kirby is no longer available

No, it wasn't a bad selection at all, only beaten 1 ¾ lengths!
My point was, we need to give ourselves the best chance if betting Each Way by making sure it's Each Way 1 2 3 or Each Way 1 2 3 4!

i do agree in fairness but i have fallen into the age old trap of apparent "word from the stable" should know better but this blokes normally quite good

I am putting this up on all team threads to hopefully get your agreement to a scoring change, mid-competition, something I don't like doing but I think in this case it warrants it. The scoring method I use gives back 10pts stake to winners, and doesn't take it off losers, so it makes no difference to winning Win or EW selections. Where the selection is placed, I have been only giving back the 5pts place part of the stake, so the 5pts win stake is deducted but really shouldn't be.
So for example Current scoring 1/4 winner gets 12.50 (2.50 profit plus 10pts stake back) 6/1 placed at quarter odds gets 12.50 (7.50 profit plus 5pts stake back)
Proposed scoring 1/4 winner gets 12.50 (2.50 profit plus 10pts stake back) 6/1 placed at quarter odds gets 17.50 (7.50 profit plus 10pts stake back)
There has been a question on why I give the stake back. I wanted to keep the week's scoring baseline at zero rather than work with minuses for losses. So a team with 8 non-selections or losing selections stays on zero rather than -80, it's just tidier in my opinion and makes no material difference to scoring other than the place anomaly.

I'm OK with that ud. I agree with you about the winning stake,TNM and I have had the same conversation in private as you had with him. However he was on to something about the place odds,an anomaly which I had never spotted and I don't remember anybody else commenting on it. I think you need to change it AFTER this round though tbf.

Thank you salmon, yes after the round of-course. It's so long ago I don't recall if anyone brought this up before, maybe DeSSie commented once that ew was disadvantaged but if it was this specifically it obviously never sunk in. It does need addressing.

Good morning HUMBUGS. This is more like an old-style Sat. Just smirnoff and myself to post. I am off to find a winner. I'm trying to stick to jumps racing so it looks like Stratford.
