We are almost at full strength, just mackies to throw his hat into the ring. Great to have you all back again, hopefully have a good pop at re-gaining the title.
Looks like the comp will be starting in a couple of weeks time. undecided will confirm.
I've taken a chance on Stormy Antarctic EW in the 3.15 Newmarket.
I say 'taken a chance' because the big question is what has gone wrong on the last two starts? However, just three runs back he was an excellent second to Persian King in the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan (Group 1), with the likes of Century Dream and Roseman behind him, a run that would strongly suggest he retains his ability at the age of seven.
He's the top rated in this field, should be fine on the ground, and bolted up over C/D in the Craven Stakes back in the day. He's been weak in the betting this morning and is now out to 7-1, but hopefully he's back in something like the form he was in at Chantilly in July.

Shocker of a day and always possible one of the chasers might land on a big price.
Good luck china. At least by going last you have kept us in it until the end. Fingers crossed for the place.

Easy Game was disappointing (specially after The Storyteller franked the form) never really travelled with conviction and didn't jump that well that was a feature of his win LTO. The trip may have been a little on the sharp side as well and i was surprised he didn't lead.
Good luck China, we can still top the group.

Well done captain and well done team. We've got about a £47 lead in the overall profit, it would be nice if we could hang on to that lead too, but hey, let's not get too greedy, we've got our hands on the title and that's the main one!

Well done Lucky Pins, you lads put up some very tidy priced winners. The shrewdies ran green and wandered about on the run-in but we will come on for the run. We'll be put away now and given time to mature and fill out our frame and then come back next season a more finished article.
Well done lads!

Can’t see why Beet Topper is Fav in that 3:20 race.
Last ran 27th Jan ’20 drifting from 11/1 to 14/1 and refused to race.
The 3 races before that were all abysmal.
But what do I know?

Took a few days away after Saturday. It was like winning the Premiership but losing on the day 7-0. We only needed a stake back but everything ran like a drain. I know it happens but it was disappointing and winning three rounds in a row would have been quite an achievement.
That said it shouldn't obscure what went on before. A couple of players kept us in the game early on and fighting for every point was important but with the exception of Saturday we went on to produce a pretty decent team performance which is what the competition should be about.
A good fun, for the most part, and very well run competition.
Well done to all fellow Pins on retaining the title.
4.25 Hereford Shearer Win
I wouldn't have put this up if the competition was still live. Been waiting on this horse to be named and make his debut. He is a 150,000 store related to one of my favourites, Empire Of Dirt. Most of the Flemensfirth's handle a bit of cut and I will be pretty disappointed if he doesn't go close.
Good luck to everyone else.

Lovely horse, much better looking than the original. Very surprised if he isn't a Graded horse.
Beaten by the paths - it wasn't just one - never used that one before.

Just George & mackies to post. Please use a wildcard if necessary.
I`ll try to log on later this afternoon.

I was thinking about picking Eagle Court in the November Handicap, but unless it lifts, the prospect of a crawl round there in the fog is dampening my enthusiasm.
Instead I'm going to chance one EW at a price - Limit Long, 1.25 Naas. He won a 14-runner handicap round Fairyhouse on soft ground three starts back, then disappointed two starts back at the Curragh, but last time at Dundalk in a stronger grade than today's, he was running a good race from the front and still in with a place chance when a rival hung across in front of him and cost him whatever chance he had left.
That was 6f and he's dropping to 5f today, but he doesn't look short of early speed and perhaps that extra bit of stamina given the ground hopefully won't be a bad thing. He has been backed this morning and is now into a top priced 14s from 28s early doors.

It would be nice to go out on a win and continue a good run.
3.23 Lingfield Getaround Win
Spoilt for choice today, well at least two. Namib Dancer wants a quick track and quick ground and he gets those at Huntingdon. Under these conditions I suspect he is very well handicapped. Unfortunately, Coleman and Lavelle are 1/55 in the last two weeks, which is woeful. I am not keen on Coleman full stop. So the burden falls on my old friend Getaround. The ground went completely against him last time and under the circumstances he still ran a decent race. You don't get many with his profile running in a race like today's but that is due to the ground. Again the stable stats are not great but most, if not all have been running in races they couldn't win. Hopefully, despite the weight, he can run them into the ground.
Good luck to all.
Can I just add if there is wildcard going this week it should go to someone who hasn't done it before - I know I haven't - as per the unwritten rules.

I posted at 2.16 on Saturday that a wildcard may be needed. By 2.54 no-one had volunteered. I agree we should each take a turn, but if no one else is looking in then it will be left to whoever has checked that everyone has posted.
mackies hadn't been able to post himself the previous week, so if you weren't around on Saturday, you could have a volunteered a wildcard pick to be posted by someone else in the event mackies wasn't able to post again.
Good luck today.

Thanks, I understand and it probably doesn't matter now but it would seem better to decide a potential wildcard player at the start of the week rather than an hour before the deadline?

Very, very disappointing. One horse lost his life and the selection never travelled a yard. It was as if he was running through glue and there was never a chance of him picking up. That was easily the worst effort of his career and I wonder in hindsight if when he sprawled at the last at Chepstow he did himself some damage. That wasn't the pre-Chepstow horse.
Happy to do the wildcard, but given what happened today, fingers crossed mackies is back.

My wildcard would be 3.45 Punchestown Enniskerry EW
I think the winner is by no means certain to confirm the previous form.
I won't add to selections until tomorrow in case mackies turns up.
Good luck to everyone else.

As it's the last week and we are champions anyway, i thought i would go for an EW selection as opposed to my normal win choice.
Coole Cody - 2.15 Cheltenham
Unlucky DD and good luck to all this afternoon.

Looks like we've got some work to do if we're to catch the leaders in this round, so I'm going to take a chance on one at big odds EW, unfortunately it's in the same race as china's, but hey at these odds I'll settle for a place!
Highland Dress has enough to find on adjusted figures, but he has an appealing pedigree for the AW, and two starts back at Kempton on what was just his third AW start, he was unlucky not to finish closer to subsequent AW Listed winner Harry's Bar having been awkward at the stalls and then stumbled badly, but caught the eye with his finishing effort.
His run last time in Listed company at Doncaster is easy enough to forgive on account of the soft ground. I would rather he wasn't drawn in one today, as it means he may have to be used up early to hold a position, or need the breaks if he misses the kick again, but at 28-1 on a day when we're probably going to need a big priced winner if we're to challenge for the lead in this round, that's where my pin has landed.

unfortunately like all my well thought out EW bets, Highland Dress finished 4th
It was OK if you backed it EW with the books as quite a few were paying 4 places, but that's not gunna help us in the comp

Great selections Andrew and Shane. Hope you had a couple of quid on at those prices.
Bad luck George.
Looks like we have probably come second on the round so good to go out on a high.
Up and down at times but a really enjoyable competition. I know some have done better than others, but I think we have all chipped in. A good team spirit definitely helps. Hopefully, we will all be around to defend the title again.

A massive WD to all team members for winning again. With exception of one round, we were pretty consistent with a mixture of shorties as well as long odds, i think our overall points record will prove difficult to match in future.
Thanks for welcoming me back to be part of the fun.
