Hilly, the stake is divided in two and half is lost (to the bookie). You earn 7/4 on the remaining half, which is about 87p. You then subtract the 50p half you lost, leaving 37p. Bookies rules Cry (which means that even if you 'win' with an odds-on, you will always lose in a dead heat)
