Not a bad finale, somewhat spoiled by the abandonment of most of Leicester's card. But a big well done to Rimmer, who capped his championship win with the 4/1 Thunder Snow to end up with more than £22 and a striking near 46% strike rate. Consistency has indeed been the key for rims, but he did bang hom e a 7/1 and 8/1 in mid-month.  Boy, six up this month because of a retirement. So a big well done to the five who join him upstairs, including three who beat off last minute challenges: Sing when ur winning and Grok with similarly steady performances through the month, and Dan Chipowski, once the bane of my settling life but actually a good napster who only needed three winners to get him upstairs at the first month of asking - an 8/1 at the start of the month and a final flourish of 9/1 and 7/1 yesterday and the day before. A 14% strike rate that's enough to promoted. Wow!  And of course congratulations to the two who won today to get their tickets to the stars: Aquarius, with 9/2 on Aces Over Eights that put him up into fifth and Hilly, who was already in sixth (an extra promo spot this month) but confirmed it with the skiniest of odds-ons today for a hat-trick. Hilly had the highest strike rate of the month at nearly 56%. Interesting to think that in a normal month that would have left him just one shy.  And, while we are at it. commiserations to la mallatiere, who would have gone up if he had won today, and feed the goat, a 2/1 winner not enough to get him into the transportation zone. And, of course, a special mention for the biggest winner of the day Billposter, who pocketed 6/1 on Choral Clan to climb 11 places. Unfortunately he was so far down it was only to 13th.  Hard luck the remaining honest toilers but I hope you will all rise afresh for a bright new month. the rules on this are not clear but it makes the best sense. When someone retires we have to record that in the table, but it cannot be done if they post a selection right to the end. So it needs to be done the following month. This has the advatnage of giving people time to change their minds about retiring (and us to put pressure on them

I think ss has a problem with travel - he's said so in the lay comp some tuimes but we should try. He is a great asset to the competition and it would be a real shame for him to go (sorry, just run out of lard)

Many thanks, Reged,for all your efforts in running this and other competitions. Quite how you managed to have me promoted with a profit of £2.40, I don't quite know. It will remain our secret. I will have to try and see if the Division 2 settler is as anxious to get rid of me this month!
