Just the two scorers on the final day, one icing on the cake, the other a crucial last-gasp skinny win that just secured promotion.

The cake eater was of course polo minx, a very worthy champion - especially since Betfair did their best to wipe her name from the face of history - who made doubly sure of her crown with her fourth straight winner at 11/8. Well done minxy, a sterling performance with seven winners highlighted by an 11/1 in mid -month.

Our other winner today was alphabeta, who bagged an 11/10 to squeak into fifth place at the last after what looks like a carefully calculated month's tipping. They might not have been big - his biggest winners were 7/2 - but the div's highest strike rate of just over 57% tells the story. Very well done, though lmlac might not join in the celebrations (hard luck lmy ).

And well done to the three others who didn't win today but had already done enough to get them upstairs: swift-tuttle, who hasn't had a winner since the 13th but effectively sealed his fate with a 20/1 8/1 combo at the start ; xmoneyx, another light on winners with just four, but who's worried when two of them are 12/1 and 8/1 ; and raspberrybottom, an old hand deservedly rising to better things after a month of solid wins topped by a 9/1 and a 5/1. Super stuff.

Hard luck to all the other excellent souls who toiled honestly and earnestly without reward (madhatter excepted of course as he achieved his objective of being in profit but not getting promoted ).

It was another good month, not perhaps with all the big bazookas of the month before but enough to keep things interesting.
