A cracking promotion battle at the death. And a surprise at the very top as lmlac nipped above swifty at the last gasp with an 11/4 winner to claim the title.
Super stuff and very well done to lumy (lacy), who had just three winners in the month - but the other two were 22/1 and 16/1. Tony the Tiger says grrrrrreat.
But hard luck to swift-tuttle, in pole position since week two after banging in two 10/1s a 9/1 and a 3/1 in five days. Things didn't quite go his way after that though and he could only find three more winners. One wonders if he had gone for a lower-priced nag today, but no matter. Splendid second place and promotion for our swifty.
Sing when ur winning has threatened before and finally got his just reward with a third place, effectively clinched by a 12/1, 6/1 and 5/1 in the first half (ish) of the month. Great napping oh warbler. And carrot1960 put the gloss on his fine month with a 2/1 winner today to consolidate his fourth place finish. Our red-bottomed napster was another to bang in a 12/1 in the middle of the month, the key to his rise. Bwillyant!
But today was mainly about the battle for fifth place. And the winner was Norfolk's answer to Worzel Gummidge, SkintofGreatYarmouth, who had put himself in position to pounce on the top places with a great 12/1 strike yesterday, and did the business today with an 11/4. He had to claw his way up from a fairly lowly spot too. Interesting considering he topped the division at the start as I recall.
But that was hard luck on Fidway, who had put himself into contention with the biggest nap of the month at 25/1 three days ago. He followed that up the next day with a 7/2 but went too low today, winning with an odds-on that left him 35p short. foxy too was in with a shout after scoring with another odds-on, but the other two winners put the mockers on that. alphabeta was another with a chance until he plumped for an odds-on that left him short, a shame for the man with the highest strike rate of just under 55%. It's interesting that not one of those promoted rated much more than half that. It's the big bazookas wot dunnit!
Just one other winner on the final day, a 9/4 from madhatter that left him firmly below the waterline. Hard luck to everyone else that had a go but thanls for joining in, thanks for all your messages, and I hope to see you all back with us in December for the ride into Christmas and the New Year.
