Our two slumbering leaders had better watch out: Sowerby Boy's on the prowl and close to  catching them. Quiet Reflection  is indeed what they might consider after it stormed home at 8/1 to lift the boy three places to third. That's his fourth strike in the last five and you wouldn't bank on it being the last.

And in case anyone thinks it was a fluke pick, the beast's ability was also spotted by charliepotheen for his second winner in three and a nine-spot lift to seventh. It's not quite as good as charlie's last winner though - that was 9/1! Well done guys.

Another fine winner came from lead on, who bagged Christchurch  at 5/1 for his hat-trick and a three-place rise to 16th.

Their strikes meant virtually all our other winners went nowhere at all or lost places. Value Seeker lost a spot to 15th despite a 5/2, posy lost a couple on a 9/4, alleged22 one on a 15/8, while smirnoff2therescue stayed in fourth on a shortie and One Shot 2 Shot remained in fifth on  a 6/4.

So the jamiest winner of the day is alphabeta: an odds-on winner puts him up one to 12th!
