Biggest mover today was halcyon days with Moonraker, which raked in a hefty 8/1 and propelled him up 13 to third.  Another sizeable winner was i_agree_with_nick, 5/1 better off on Azilian to climb seven to seventh.  And SkintofGreatYarmouth returned to winning ways with Mustard at a hot 7/2 that pushed him up nine to 13th.  Elsewhere, Markyacard and bluenose7 were both up five on the 7/4 Blue Bayou, marky to 16th, nosey to fifth. Up at the top hoof hearted stayed in fifth with a 15/8 but motseel slipped one to fourth despite an odds-on. A shortie also couldn't stop JBNAY slipping three to 18th. Reged - I think you deducted a pound for Tiggy Wiggy when it should have been a n/r on the last day of last month? It was still in the big Goodwood sprint at the four day declarations and was only taken out overnight. We have always been allowed to pick from these (to help cover off a fortnights holiday when coupled up with grace days) and I'm not aware that this rule has changed. Well mads, I'm afraid that you haven't read the rules for a while (published on the first of each month) because there is nothing in them about four-day decs. I do vaguely remember a reference to them back in the day, but they have fallen by the wayside, partly I imagine because of the work involved in finding out what the four-day decs were. I wouldn't have a clue. But I am not sure what you mean by taken out overnight. Our results are based on runners listed the previous afternoon/evening and Tiggy Wiggy wasn't. You didn't help your cause either by declaring it for a race that didn't exist - the 3.40. Nearest race to that was the 3.45. I just assumed you'd got your knickers in a bit of a twist and I really don't have the time to go scurrying back trying to find if it was a 4-day dec. Reged - 'Taken out overnight' is/was racing parlance for when the horse is removed from the original four day entries, i.e. not in the final 'overnight' declarations, which are those published in the hard copy press on the day of the race.
I guess it's a term that isn't so widely used nowadays as (a) we now have computer access to the declared runners on the day before the event which of course wasn't the case until a few years ago, and (b) races are now 48 hour declarations rather than 24h .
