We had a long drawn out debate which ended up in a vote and the majority went for this Norfolk.
|
|
By:
Why do you feel like that Norfolk?
I think it's far better than LRF. Five days off each month along with 4 Sundays still leaves 21 naps in a month. Where's the problem? |

Shanelee1966,
Yes, I am aware of that and I voted against the 'No selection - last race favourite scenario! But this is becoming a f*cking joke! Just tally up the non posting days in each division and see the effect it is having on promotion and relegation issues! |
|
By:
I personally was against it. But was happy to go ahead with the vote.

There is a bigger picture which concerns me, well has in the past with these matters which have cropped up.
We have lost 3 settlers in a short space of time, Weaver Fish, FCH & bettysboy. |
|
By:
I said it then and i'll say it now!
No selection : - 1 and I guarantee the number of non posting days would be reduced at a stroke! |
|

Anyhow, I'm off to church!

We have lost 3 settlers in a short space of time, Weaver Fish, FCH & bettysboy. It's hardly surprising really, all comp settlers give their own time, several on a daily basis, most days of the year for no reward other than occasional thanks from a few posters at the end of a month. On the downside, they have to put up with crap from others and try to placate them (this is not a personal dig at TNM by the way). I certainly wouldn't want to do it and work commitments wouldn't allow it anyway. The daily nap comp rules are not perfect and will never please everyone, but it's what we have to abide with and the same for all that play anyway. |

After Andrew`s comment above there`s nothing much more to add. A perfect summary.

No system was ever gonna be perfect.
But are you saying lose the grace days and if you don't post then you lose a pound? What if you are away on holiday/business? I liked it in the old days when you were able to post up an assigned champion tipster for a ten day maximum as it used to be to cover off the above circumstances. It also meant that there was always a tip for everyone every day except a Sunday so there was no hiding. However, that instruction should never have been allowed to become a standing order placed at the start of each new month as happened....i.e if you don't post the day before to say 'I need RPR/Goodfellows/etc Nap tomorrow and each day after up to XXth inclusive' then you lose a pound - we all know the dates we are away on business or holiday so it shouldn't be hard to leave instructions for that period. Plus, once instruction is given it should not be allowed to be changed during that time. Family issues and computer malfunctions wouldn't be helped by that I know but for those knowing they would be away it was good. I still think the current system of not being allowed to have a newspaper tip but it being ok to ask someone else on the forum to pick one for you is weird and wrong! Grace days replaced these tipsters picks to make it easier for settlers I believe. Issues arose with the old system when it was allowed to post a default instruction at the start of a month because players could see if their 'champions' choice had won/lost and not post/post accordingly. This meant a huge amount of extra work for the settlers to check on this cheating ( having to check the times of the newspaper nap and the time that the player posted) and we can ill afford to risk losing them! And I still say that the only table that matters is the 12 month rolling one - which is the only true reflection of a players worth. So, if people want to spend their life straining for a figure of about -2 to avoid premiership relegation and using 'tactics' to help them then so what? |
|
By:
To summarize....system as is is fine!
|

By:
As a newish settler I like the fact you can settle the table an hour before the last race on a lot of occasions. I would have hated the lrf and having to wait until after the last race to settle. No system is perfect and this seems to come up every 6 months or so but its better imo then previous ways. Looking back the indiviual instructions must have been a nightmare for previous settlers.
Personally I think I bigger issue is the joke sp's that are occuring on a regular basis at the evening a/w meetings , the worse being when I had to settle Buffythebookieslayer selection at 6/4 when it was nearly 4/1 on here. If we had to change sp to bsp would be a way forward but we had a vote on that a bit ago and it was rejected. |

As he's always here perhaps TNM could volunteer himself as reserve settler when the current ones need a bit of rest and recuperation.

You're always here too, but you'd never believe it by all the non posting days you've accrued!
Anyway, just f*ck off and do us all a favour! |

The previous two months I didn't play tactically at all as I had a weeks holiday in both of them and had to use my 5 days then. I'm surprised as you stalk me so assiduously you failed to notice that.

By:
Sorry Skinto but I am a big fan of the 5 rest days and I use them when I think I have to, either tactically or on poor racing days it doesn't really matter as the ruling is the same for all, so I think these leagues have been improved replacing the LRF with 5 rest days.
And stop picking on my old mate Salmon he is a lovely chap ![]() |

simple solution: if you think the comp is so crap, quit, go organise your own which will of course be perfect. Then everyone's happy
