Today was all about near misses. 223 came close with a 14/1 shot, great effort.

poppy & travelling man both hit the crossbar with 8/1 shots, Pim Street only beaten by a nostril hair.

Hi Shane how's life?

Hi Soldier we are struggling against the other teams this season, without a win in 7 now and it is not looking good for the rest of the season as our Girls apart from 4 are minute compared to the opposition.
Seems like most teams have got about 80% / 20% in favour of 12 year olds we seem to be the opposite our ratio is about 75% 25% ratio in favour of 11 year olds and it is a age group that has a massive physical difference. (Under 13s)
I am not sure what will come first our first win of the season or my next nap winner?

pete I completely hear what you say and I've come across this many times. It sounds like your daughter is part of a squad that is effectively playing up a year, with most of them eligible to play at Under-12, however it sounds like you're in an Under-13 League with the majority of the opposing team players being Under-13's. So most weekends many of the teams are physically bigger, quite naturally.

My advice is stick with it pete. You mentioned on here a few weeks ago that the Manager of your squad explained to you that it's about developing the players technically at this age group and engaging them in football, as opposed to winning. Fundamentally he's right, however I do understand your frustration (and probably young Kirsty's frustration) in terms of turning up and getting beaten most weeks. She wants to win and as her Dad you want to see her win - perfectly understandable.

As she goes up the age groups pete the gap will narrow significantly as she grows and develops, and the same applies to her team mates. Next season at Under-14, and with the experience of this season in their locker, they will be a better and more competitive squad. Same applies at Under-15 and so on. Eventually the age groups will 'catch up' and she'll be an Under-16 player or an Under-18 player playing in the right age group, if that makes sense.

In theory you could move her so that she'll play in exactly her right age group. But again my experience is that if she stays positive and cracks on with her own development, and you keep supporting her as parents (which I'm certain you will do), in the long run these hard days will all be worth it as at Under-14 and Under-16 and beyond, she'll be a stronger player and technically a better player.

Keep the faith pete and carry on at Middlesbrough, and absolutely right keep talking to the Coaches and the Manager about their aims and objectives.

in the centre of excellence the trials are every year but there are only 4 squads, it goes under 11s under 13s under 15s and finally under 17s so I suppose this explains a bit better why there can be such a big difference in the girls physically.
If Kirsty was to pass her trials next june she would stay in the under 13s therefore being one of the older girls in the squad next year.
