The option of a Last Race Favourite for 10 non-posting days each month has caused great controversy, with a number calling for it to be scrapped. We are asking all members of the Naps Competition for your simple view on the LRF. Should we keep it or scrap it?
Let's not argue here about the intricacies of how we might amend or replace it. This is simply to gauge the strength of opinion among competitors on the issue. If the majority want it scrapped the settlers will produce a replacement proposal based on the discussion that has already taken place. If the majority want to keep it, the settlers will again discuss how it might be improved (ie possibly a cap). But putting these issues aside, we need to know where you all stand on the core issue. So please put your vote down here.
The question:
Are you happy with the Last Race Favourite option (LRF)?
If you are, just put down YES. If not, and you want it to be scrapped, put down NO
Please just cast a simple vote - either YES or NO. This is NOT a discussion thread. We've had plenty of that already. You can find it on a thread entitled Last race bleedin favourites.
All those taking part in the competition, including those for whom others post their naps, have a vote. We will be looking for a majority among those who actually vote, on the basis that those that don't clearly don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. So please, if you have an opinion, make sure you vote.
yes, personally I don't think it matters as if you bet every last race fav you would be a minus usually, so its no big deal but as some one said here if you where close to top and went on holiday for week, would be unfair to loss every day.

Andrew in Sweden 04 Mar 14 19:03 Is it really a fair and democratic vote if posters are allowed to use their 'alter ego' identities (some have more than 2) ?
Do I take it from this that some people are actually in the leagues more than once ie using more than one name??

NO .............. but i think LRF should still exist but the (10) should be reduced to 3-5 for obvious reasons.

At least one individual on here has enough user names to have his own division ..... very sad.

Well done again all you non posters landing a nice 7/2 shot , kinda took the gloss off my 45 minutes of studying and finishing with a 100/30 winner. I really am 100% against LRF simply because I don't think anyone should be awarded for not playing but I am for rest days to cover people who find it difficult to post on a Daily Basis whether it's 3, 5 or whatever I am happy to leave that in the good hands of the settlers.

im actually swinging round to LRF but they should not prosper from those that actually tip. so keep the rules as they are but LRF odds will be the shortest priced winner of the day.

Instructions have always been an integral and very important part of this competition, which is after all just a bit of fun. To scrap them would be very foolish and definitely detrimental to the competition.
I'm still completely bewildered as to why some players have suddenly started whingeing about instructions after all these years. To my mind, this ill-conceived vote shouldn't even have been considered by the organisers.
Let's hope common sense prevails!

'all these years'...automatically being on LRF has only been default for about 2 maybe 3 years, since being allowed to have 'proper' instructions.
If you don't post you shouldn't win. Where is the sense in having a tipping competition where a napster gets 120 days where they have a horse picked for them (which is what LRF amounts to)/ Let's not forget we all get another 50 days a years off for optinal Sundays. So we have a Naps table wherein a player only has to pick a horse for roughly 50% of the time.......crazy!
However, no-one can be around to post every day so there should be a fixed number of days per year (with a limit set per month within this) to allow for this.
You score zero on these non-posting days until you exceed your monthly and/or yearly limit then you score -1 for each extra day.

no pete, I wasnt referring to you ... sorry, I'm a bit ratty, had a stressful day ... but the point still stands. This is a free and not too serious competition. Essentially it's just a bit of fun, but you wouldn't think that to read some of the stuff.

... and I'm getting it in the neck just for wanting to know people's views before coming to a decision. well, I'm terribly sorry for seeking to ask people what they think. Obviously I'm right out of order, won't happen again yer honour.

I truly hope I haven't upset anyone either boys. I have spent a lot of time reading all the posts, weighing them up and offering my thoughts and reasonings in a clear manner (if not always concise!). Not sure you can say that about some of others with their throw away ;cutting' one-line answers Don't remember being offensive at any time but if I was then I am embarrassed about that and apologise 100%. Cheers, Mad.

Packed it in almost 15 years ago now. Found the patches and gum absolutely useless but the inhalator worked a treat. E-cigs didn't exist then so no idea about those.
Lit up once about week 6 but found it revolting and never been remotely tempted since. Just as well as I probably couldn't afford it now anyway.
Glad you're on the mend Shane.

All - I along with the other settlers need to decide on how to move forward. My feelings are that we need a safety net for such instances Value. Also, the same for holidays.
I`m hoping we can reach an agreement by the weekend.
Email sent to four settlers.

47 out of 127 want a change and we're thinking of changing it? When Hitler **** his votes at least he did a proper job and got 98%.
Suggestions then...
50 LRF's a year, just use a counter and it goes down 1 per LRF until a specified date and then we all get our 50 back.
Or we could have 50 NR's, if you don't post its a nonner, same again 50 a year.... last day rules apply of course.
There MUST be a way of putting up something in the interest of fairness - some, if not most cannot post a selection up every single day.

It's a good thing the monthly option Shane (and I was happy with the old system)..... but it must be at least 10 because a fortnight on a cruise ship means relegation..... which leads us to the perfectly acceptable situation we are in now.
Just make them nonners then? that'd be popular....
