That was some ending! Who would have thought dukeofpuke, the king of the shorties who perenially goes low to go not quite high enough, would come up with a stonking winner on the last day to seal promotion. And the winner of the Hennessy to boot, Trio D'alene at 20/1! A superb nap well worthy of elevating the duke to greater things. I'll miss the duke; it's been fun to report on his skinny successes and have a bit of a laugh. But you can't argue with 20/1! Very well done.
There must have been something we all could spot about that horse if we were good enough - it also was the selection of the Prem Div winner. It was also, sadly, the selection of The Fruity Kiwi & his Gerbil and would have got him promotion as well. But as we all (should) know, duplicates are not allowed on the final day and the duke had got there well before him. Hard luck Fruity.
It's a bit hard on elvissss too to bag a 14/1 winner on the last day but still fall £5 short of promotion. Very nice nap all the same elvy.
So a humungous well done to Nijinsky, or shane as the cogniscenti like to call him. Just three winners in the month, but one was 10/1 and the last was that incredible 40/1 shot that sealed the deal. A very worthy champion indeed.
And well done to the three others going up above, sixtwosix whose highlight was a 25/1 winner, josh monk, with a 28/1 smasher, and SilverBuck1, who never reached such heights but banged 'em in regularly enough to snatch the fifth slot. His final selection produced the final drama, an odds-on shot that nudged the unfortunate pumphol out of the places by just a few pennies. It just goes to show how important odds-on winners can be to gaining success in this comp. We all have a laugh about them, but they are a very essential weapon in many a napster's armoury. Ask the duke!
Thanks to everyone for taking part and helping to make this a great division in a great and sporting competition. Perhaps this wasn't the month of fireworks of its predecessor, but it was a fascinating tussle nevertheless. I hope you all enjoyed it and join us for another bash at napping greatness!
