He hasn`t posted for a while. I`ll give him until Friday 6th Sept, if I haven`t heard from him by then he`ll have to be retired.

Hi Shane, wouldn't it be fairer to give flyingbolt until the 10th to respond, in line with the maximum number of instructions we're allowed ?

It crossed my mind Andrew but it`s two weeks since we heard from him.

I suppose a few more days won`t hurt as the end result remains the same if we don`t hear from him.

I didn't realise he hadn't posted for so long. Sounds strange, hope he's OK.

All - I`ll leave it until he reaches (10) consecutive non posting days. If nothing then he`ll have to be retired. This obviously effects the premier relegation and div 2 promotion.

Yippee - looking forward to that again (toys firmly back in pram now) Cool

Laugh

Easy way to calculate at the end of the month is:

Div 2 extra promotion(s) directly linked to the premier division, eg 1 prem retired 1 extra promoted div 2, 2 retirees 2 extra promoted.

Div 3 extra promotion(s) directly linked to the premier and division 1, four retirees (combined) last month so four extra promotion places in div 3.

Div 1 extra promoted at the moment none as we only lose four and don`t increase in the event of retirees, though if we had five or more retire in the same month in the premier Laugh

I see there's nothing in the Rules detailing the procedure for retiring a player due to an unexplained abscess.

I seem to recall Reg posting some guidelines about this in Div 3 because of a few newcomers who didn't stay the course.
What were Reg's guidelines?

Not sure momms. Different gig from premier to Div 3. Mainly because in Div 3 people tend to join and soon get fed up or forget, then re-join or fall out if they don`t nap any winners etc. You don`t get that in the premier, obviously we get the odd retiree for various reasons but you can`t pull the rug too soon.

I think this situation is a case of each settler playing it by ear and making a decision as they see fit and in the overall interests of the comp/division.

I know Reg said something along the lines of if napsters from the previous month didn`t post on the 2nd (Monday) they wouldn`t be included in the table. Which is a fair policy given the nature of Div3 ie starting point of the comp.

That all makes sense. Let's hope he's ok and turns up soon.

I hope so too momms. Does look like he`s been banned though, in some cases they can be quickly re-inststed, after I would imagine an appeal, who knows.

I see what you mean. His profile has disappeared from the beta forum. Either banned or self-excluded or ?

Are there any other ors?

One or the other I`d imagine momms. As mentioned above I`ll give him until (10) non posts before retiring him. One less relegation place if that`s the case to worry about for the high flyers.

If you didn't see the thread on the HRF yesterday, saxon farm, who knows fb, has confirmed that he has been banned permanently, apparently for an "innocuous" post about shouty man. Sad

Everyone keeps saying the end of the forum is nigh, they want to kill it off. I`m not too sure, wouldn`t Betfair just say that`s it we`re closing it down.

The ignorant trolls had to be dealt with and were.

I think the way you and bb do retirees works fine ... If they havent given you notice they'll be away, retire after they've run out of LRFs. That's more than enough time.

As you say, the situation is different in Div 3. I just got fed up with people coming in for a few pops one month and  disappearing the next without a word. You never know where you are. So no one, not even those relegated, goes up on the table in any month until they have posted or given me notice they'll be away.

Obviously doesn't stop those who just put up a couple of naps then go away, but at least I don't have to keep them the following month. And there was at least one guy relegated a couple of months ago who just never showed up. And I don't retire people until the penultimate day, just let them slowly sink to oblivion if they don't post. Seems to work so far anyway. No one's complained! Laugh

shane, its not us doing the interpreting of who's done what and how serious it is. At the risk of getting banned myself, I would have to say I have in the past dealt with some pretty hopeless people here. I once complained about the way they let one guy make post after post slagging me off. Insead of showing the slightest concern about my situation, all I got was a threat to have me banned because I was repeating this official's emails to me on the forum. That's just childish, apart from appalling customer relations.

Well, if they get rid of the forum they have a prob - because you can bet your Rse there'll be a NOT-the-Betfair-Forum go up in its place, over which they'd have no control at all. In fact, if they do that I'll start one meself!
