back in the groove Love

There is some serious doubt about the comp returning in the New Year which is perfectly understandable
the pressure & time consumption is enormous on us let alone Undecided
plus to keep the interest at the high level necessary is a very difficult task
All the more credit & supprt goes to Undecided
hope you all give him your support in his 'New Champions League' competition
I will be

From a personal point many thanks for your support guys
I know I may ramble on in a vain attempt to maintain interest
but it is a TEAM competition & difficult to do at a keyboards length away
we all have different modus operandi in coming up with selections
and its been a pleasure to meet you all & previous members
and allowing me to share the honour of wearing the 'YELLOW E.W. Thieves' jersey LoveLoveLove

may just keep the topic alive for the big meetings, if I get any visitors Devil
Who knows may well be knocking on your door in the New Year with a begging bowl

hope you enjoyed the fun - I did LaughLaugh

Been an interesting season for sure!! Looked as if the new weekly system found us out but I think over the second half we've shown that wasn't the case. Hope we'll all cross swords in the Champions League at some stage Wink

I'll defo be still visiting the thread Wink

PS Well Done everyone, runners up in the Cup when bottom of table ain't no bad feat in itself, but from bottom at half way to get into challenging posiition for 3rd was phenominal.

Lot of water to go under the bridge but if there is a comp next year, I hope we're all still up for it Wink

Stew
we all go through bad runs it's part and parcel of the sport I am sure soon enough you will rattle in winner after winner.
Just been next door to Stanley Bet to watch the racing walked in 20 to 5 Cyprus time (2hrs ahead) and was greeted by a Blunt "we are closed" despite one chap sat looking up at the screens" I am now sat in reception listening to the commentary on my mobile at 365 started off well with a 1st 2nd 1st, may it continue.

Thanks for that Pete,
feeling better already, I was just putting a wealth warning out, been a frustrating year
I know I havent been in touch this season, things are due to improve in a couple of weeks
much more free time will become available just a question of how I spend it
1/10 my grandkids get 70% of it, I just adore them LoveLoveLove

Chris Froom a new 'National Hero' GrinGrin
is he taking out a jockeys license
reminds me of something I meant to mention when you were on about books a few weeks back
the last book I read on holiday & enjoyed immensely and recommend it to anybody 'The Chimp Paradox' by Dr Steve Peters
hes the sports psychiatrist for the Olympics Cycling Team also for Sky Team & Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton, Bradley Wiggins often put a large part of their success down to him
currently working with the Athletics Team & Liverpool late last season

The Chimp controls the percentage of emotion in your decision making
and can override the logic side if you let it, found it entertaining I enjoy laughing at myself,
but Im a simpleton (not a pendleton)
Suarez is still getting his teeth into it, probably loses something in translation Wink

The margin of error is often so fine between being
The Champ Love
The Chimp Devil
The Chump Cry

enjoy your holiday CoolCool

A gentle nudge nudge guys DONT FORGET Special AUTUMN Competition

the competition will commence ........... 9th September for 15 weeks

Champions League Tipster Competition 2013

This is a one-off, Horse Race tipping competition, in the style of the football champions league.

The aim is to get 128 players involved, but we'll see what numbers we get and work from there.
If it looks like we'll only get around 64 then I will probably cap it there and we'll start later, missing out the first stage.

If we do get over 64 taking part then the competition will commence ........... 9th September for 15 weeks,
ending on 21st December.
If no more than 64 take part then we'll start a week later 16th September, for 12 weeks, ending on 7th December.

Players will be drawn into groups of 4, and each player will play each other once. Each match lasts one week, during which you only make one selection.
For each player that's 3 matches, 3 selections, over 3 weeks per group stage.
Depending on numbers I plan 5 group stages, see the rules section for details.

As it's matchplay, the main thing is to beat your opponents, not who gets the best P/L figures at the end.
There is however a bonus point for selecting an Evens and above winner, irrespective of win lose or draw the match,
and one more bonus point for best winner in the group.
P/L figure may play a part at the end in the case of a tie on pts.

Start is penciled in for Monday 9th September but keep an eye out for a firm date.

If you are interested in joining in,
PLEASE I BEG YOU to read the rules thoroughly, and be prepared to take part once a week for 15 weeks between September and Christmas,
if good enough of-course! (see holiday cover).
There is also a thread where we had a trial run of a group stage,
you may wish to have a look through it to get acquainted with how it works although bear in mind we have tweaked the rules a bit since then, basically the same though.

Important - I will only accept selections posted under the player's forum name, i.e no posting for others (exception - see holiday cover section in rules).
I know a few of you post on behalf of friends in other competitions, but due to the matchplay nature of this one I will not accept that here.
