There's a keen little contest developing at the top of the table, numbers one and two locked in a battle of nerves and wits to win the championship. N-east Correspondent, stung into action by seeing his possession of top spot seriously threatened for the first time since the start of the month, managed to land a winner today in the 7/4 Afraah. But pauli, rewriting NEC's theory of the secret behind his binary code formsheet, pulled an unexpected winner out of the hat for a few pence more to creep that bit closer. The hugely misnamed English Summer, obviously some relic of a bygone era, came home at 5/2 to give Mr P his second straight win and fourth in seven days. Keep it going you two. This is terrific stuff.
On a grey napping day pauli's win makes him joint top napster with angeleyz, who landed Vallarta at 5/2 to gain three places and sit on the very cusp of ascension.
And the only other man in the black today was Red Hand for whom 6/5 on Jawhar was enough for a six-place rise to mid-table.
Well done winners. It generally seemed a hard day for all the competition so those who lost shouldn't be too despondent. A BIT despondent maybe! Better luck tomorrow anyway!
