I know people rarely go back and read the latest thread once they've posted their selection on it, so here are a couple of replies to posts which you may not have seen, and which may be of interest.

I wasn't planning on running the betting competition this month. It was a one-off, just for December. The In-Running prices that I'm posting are purely for interest's sake.
Having said that, there's no reason why a few bets can't be struck just for a bit of fun if anyone wants to.

The Title SP prices are what was available prior to the off on Jan 1st and are based purely on last month's finishing totals, for the sake of simplicity. Those prices are no longer available obviously now we're off and running. The In-Running prices are the only ones you can have now. I suspect that your use of the phrase 'decent odds' means you want the SP prices. Wishful thinking!
So, there are no rules this month other than a starting bank of, shall we say 1,000?
Bet as much as you like on whoever you like whenever you like.

It's an interesting point dogday. It does seem a bit severe.
But you have to bear in mind that it's an In-Running market. The automated spreadsheet which calculates the odds only considers your position on the table, and the difference between your total and the table leader relative to the number of racing days left in the month. It takes no account of previous form or the price of any winners you may have.

MOMM, I posted a selection for Ayr, so how come I'm down a point?
Btw, I'd done all my work on the Ayr card pre-postponement and I always post my selections fairly late in the day. I had no time to work on the Southwell card, Thanks
Whippin Piccadilly, Ayr was called off and the Betfair markets removed just after 10.30 yesterday morning.
As soon as I became aware of it at about 11am, I posted on the thread that Ayr was off and that it was now only Southwell for selections, but that any Ayr selections up to that point would stand as non-runners (or pick again from Southwell).
So unfortunately your post nearly 4 hours after Ayr was officially abandoned couldn't be accepted I'm afraid. Sorry.

Bit of an overreaction there Whippin? 
We all know how easy it is to post a selection that's already been declared a non-runner, because we've all done it. We go though the cards and make our picks and very often don't post one of them up as the day's selection until much later. Nine times out of ten we don't bother to read the rest of the thread and we don't bother to check to see if it's still running. Like I said, we've all done it.
But the onus HAS to be on the player to make sure it's still a runner at the time of posting, and in fairness to other players it has to be declared an Invalid Selection if it's already been withdrawn or if the meeting's been called off. A degree of latitude is always allowed (at the settler's discretion) simply because we all know how easily it can happen, and because we know that people play in the right spirit and wouldn't do it deliberately just to save a pound. What would be the point? But as I said, in fairness to other players, there's no way a selection posted nearly 4 hours after a meeting has been abandoned can be allowed to stand. Especially as I'd already posted an announcement about it. It would be unreasonable to expect otherwise, however annoying it may be after you've done the work.
So please have a large glass of scotch and a rethink. I don't like to see anyone leave unneccessarily.
This is after all just a bit of fun, but there have to be rules or it would be open to abuse from unscrupulous players.
