Guessing they will be happy to push this one on a competitive mark, Jim Crowley (44%) and Lingfield (38%) strike rate. Doesn't seem the right distance but I will punt this e/w

Bit surprised that this 6 year gelding was as big as 16/1 considering the stable form of Longsden of late. I think he ran credible races on his 2 hurdle starts last season against a calibre of horses much better than today. He also put in a really good effort before the hurdles runs in a bumper over an inadaquate trip of 16F.

I think the step up in trip from his last run of 20F to 22.5F will be right up his street, as he just didn't have the pace to pose any sort of challenge against the speedier horses last time out. It's not set in stone that he will get this trip, and they could just be looking for a handicap mark to be honest. When you look at the horses surrounding him on his last run, you'll see Billie Maggern, Chain of Command, these are horses around the 130 mark over fences now, and he could of finished in front of them if he hadn't made a challenge for the race 3 out.

Today might prove that he's just one for the future in handicaps. Just watch the market to be honest, if he was fancied, I find it hard to believe he would go unbacked.
