I've woken up this morning and can't get back to sleep and am smiling like a Cheshire cat and welling up with tears of joy every few minutes- I am still struggling to take it in. I still can't believe how lucky we've been, firstly that he had the ability in the first place and secondly that he has come back as good as ever after the injury (my head kept telling me that they don't come back as good after serious injury, but my heart wanted to believe). I tried to soak it all in after the race, from leaping up and down with Sarah Hobbs after he crossed the line, she was genuinely as excited as we were, to being interviewed by Derek Thompson for Sky around 45 mins after the race. Chepstow racecourse were extremely generous in the number of owners badges they let us have, as they were two years ago, and they ran out of glasses when we were taken for champagne after the race and that's with only a third of us and guests finding the winning connections room. Only sometime after the race did I realise that I had won by far and away the most I ever have. I am not a big better, but took advantage of the 40s available on here the night before the race as well an e/w 33/1 a few weeks back. I said to Tom O'Brien before the race we justed wanted a repeat of the last time he rode him. He said "that was Perth wasn't it?" He rode a perfect race and got him jumping very well, the whole race did go like a Dream and I must admit it wasn't until I watched the race again in the evening that I realised how close the second got. Most of the syndicate would have gone back to the Social Club in Cefn Forest and if any of you read this I hope you had a great evening and that your heads are not too sore today. Having driven back to Leicester I had a quiet evening in with the wife and shared a bottle of champers whilst watching the BBC coverage (strange to see yourself on the telly). Sorry for rambling on and I hope one or two of you had a bob on too. As Hoss says Dreams do come true :) |

Ha ha, I thought your finger was trembling from the morning after shakes.I'm glad that you left some 34s to be mopped up early yesterday morning. I missed your stint with ''Tommo,'' but putting up with him was a small price to pay for OWNING A GRAND NATIONAL WINNER. :)

Had a visit to Philip Hobbs' yard yesterday. He kindly invited the whole syndicate and guests. DA was walked out for us and this was followed by a champagne reception and then we all went for lunch at a local pub. A great way to end a memorable week.
The aim now is the Grand National with possibly one run beforehand in February. |

FCH - just logged onto my bettysboy email account for first time this year to find a mail from Elmer Thudd dated 28th December asking to pass his congratulations onto you for DAs fabulous win. He is "over the moon for FCH, a genuinely nice guy". Perhaps he was a bit**ed HA! -)
