Pure guesswork, but previously the consensus on here has been that Cher's support will now switch to One Direction.  Any further thoughts on this?

Regardless of whether it's One Direction or Rebecca to be first out tonight, I would expect Matt to be the chief beneficiary for the remainder of the show before the votes close.  That's what makes him a cast iron bet to win, in my view.

The question is, how much will One D have closed the gap on Rebecca and possibly even Matt thanks to Cher's exit?

I can see Cher's core fans thinking themselves rather hip and with it.

They'd sooner slash their wrists than vote for 1d imho

The rebecca to matt shift is the banker imo....if she was to go 3rd.

Prolly. Significant anti-1d vote either way I'll bet

I'm not convinced Cher fans would all automatically go for OD, more likely to be quite an even split between all three.  Maybe a tad more support for Rebecca as she is the only girl and because of Cheryl??

Possibly - the girl support could be a factor, definitely.  If the female fans are split over Matt / One D (in terms of fanciability, rather than singing ability) there would therefore have to be a decent shout that Rebecca could still finish 2nd.

I agree that there is not an automatic shift from Cher to One D purely because they both appeal to a younger audience.  There's a big difference between the two - particularly the street cred angle.

Could there be a factor of Cheryl's fans, switching there vote to Rebecca to boost her chance of winning mentor? Just a thought.

Can't imagine anyone thinking of that [;)]

Most popular judge according to yougov though, this year is Dannii
