Rewatched the Rihanna thing. Its miles better second time.
Matt done good he goes international with this.

I never noticed rihanna before. Its an age and interplanetary thing . I am now a big fan.

Was it her who supported Gamu at the MOBO's if so. What planet is she from?

Don't agree, I love Rihanna. Matt is no better than average, international he's not!
Report melv December 12, 2010 10:18 AM GMT
I agree Rihanna is proper. I mean he goes international because of how Rihanna is in this. I am in love.

Only joking melv. I'm going to Barbados on the 6th Jan, I've rented an apartment for 3 months and I'm going to scour the island for Rihanna in the hope that she comes home for the holidays!

I have never said Matt was a great singer. I am not a fan of his singing. He wins this because he is a fanciable male of the right age who can sing a bit and the "He deserves it" vote will clinch it. The London vote might help especailly if the public think !D could win.

If  Simon drags 1d over the line well........we all know what's what's. Come one GBP do not prove you are fkin fick.

After he introduced Rhianna did you not see matt standing at the side with his tuhumb in his mouth and staring up at the staircase at Rhianna. When she stood next to him she towered over him making him look like a little white boy pretending to like black music. He looked so out of place.
Report larrence December 12, 2010 11:22 AM GMT
Not out of place , he is just very humble and as i say the bloke has been ill, it makes me laugh people are knocking him, his vocals are the best in the competetition by a mile.Laugh

I agree Guy.

The Matt duet was totally cringey.

It still has the most thumbs up though, so shows the tosspot can do no wrong in the eyes of his fans.

I guess the consolation is he's likely to be playing the dog and duck in 18 months time, while Rebecca is appearing on Jools.
Report CaptainTobiasWilcox December 12, 2010 11:37 AM GMT
larrance, the best vocals in the comp are those of Rebecca. I agree totally with five leaves and have hated Matt's grovelling throughout the show. His voice is at best average and he will soon be forgatten.

She's not a great singer when they put her on a big cake and have her spun round by some stage hands.

It was the most bizarre and ludicrous staging I've ever seen.

I'm surprised they didn't have flames coming out of her head at the end.
Report Rich W December 12, 2010 11:44 AM GMT
Rebecca is the best singer in the competition, but may not be appealing to the young kids that vote! That said Matt had a bad night last night and shortened, so must be in line to win!

Did laugh, everytime Cher sang her odds to be evicted went from 1/5 to 1/10. Showing she really can't sing!
Report GeorgeBrush December 12, 2010 11:44 AM GMT
A purposeful nod to the singing candle tag?

I was too dim to get that
Report five leaves left December 12, 2010 11:49 AM GMT
Gawd knows whether it was intentional, but it doesn't surprise me that she phoning up Cheryl in tears over the staging.
Report Dizzy42 December 12, 2010 12:28 PM GMT
Yes, it was truly terrible.  Just bizarre.

"If she won't move, let's find another way of getting her to spin around"  WTF?!

Reminded me of the end of Camblewick Green...  Or was it Trumpton?  Showing my age now...

The only thing that Matt is 'international' at is sh*gging, not singing...

Just had a stroll down high street. Matt 5/6 with wh but max was £25. laddies going 7/2 matt 1 beccy 2.

Polls seem to have it matt, beccy, 1D at the moment.

Twitter suggests beccy blew her chances by bottling the duet with xtina.
How many chances has that girl had ffs?
Report Dizzy42 December 12, 2010 12:42 PM GMT
I've watched the duet a few times now and don't get a couple of things:

- Did Rebecca fluff her lines / miss her cue or was it Christina hamming it up that threw her?

- Did they actually rehearse it this way - Rebecca didn't seem to know whether to come in or not?

- Surely Rebecca was supposed to sing the whole of the last line, not just the last word?

Until Christina came on, it wasn't that bad.  But if this is the way it was supposed to be, then the way they split the lines was just dreadful!

tbh Diz, I don't think all of the duets get that much rehearsal together hence the shambolic nature of a fair few of them.  I assume the XF act does quite a bit of rehearsal alone.  Christina was in Spain on Thursday night with the stars of Burlesque promoting it so wouldn't have had much time on London before last night.

For me, Rebecca was overawed and taken aback with Christina's arrival, lost it somewhat and missed out on quite a bit of what she was supposed to sing.  Christina's lack of generosity and warmth and just wanting to blast away wouldn't have helped her get back into it either.

Either nobody else wanted to sing with Rebbecca or Syco have no idea what they where doing
or it was a hatchet job.

I think Simons a lot thicker than we give him credit for.

tbf, I don't think they have a massive idea how the duets are going to pan out when they put them together.

Only thing as a positive would be that she might have even got some extra sympathy votes from it - she looked like a lost sheep during the song, lol

I must confess that i woz social sec for the student union at Betelguese Uni. So I
do ahve a masive idea about booking an act.

Aguilera who she?
has been that's who.

Nobody else wants to sing with Rebbecca. Who would she can't stay in tune or hold a melody.

Agwi- whatever is an in your face up tempo lady gaga type perfomer. Totally unsuited to Rebecca's death warmed up style.

Aggy must be deperate. Is her career on the rocks or summat.

Now Rihanna. Current; will suit Matt very well. Are you sure Simon does not want Matt.

I think Squares is right - it seems to me that the duets is the one aspect of the show they have little control over.

When the rest is so rehearsed and manipulated, I wouldn't be surprised if this tradition died a death after this year...

Christina was vocally awesome, which somewhat overshadowed (to be kind) our Rebecca. Didn't stop Alex winning when a similar thing happened with Beyonce, but as a Bex supporter my gut feeling is that she hasn't delivered a world class, spine-tingling performance last night.

She had to deliver last night to challenge Matt but fell short even with him being off his game too.

I fear her chance has evaporated with the dry ice.

Aguilera has a reputation of making ridiculous divaesque demands.  I read that she once insisted on a police escort because she didn’t want to waste her time sitting in traffic.  She also doesn’t appear to be a very nice person – I recall reading something in a Piers Morgan book on how she ignores hotel staff who she presumably considers to be beneath her.

Today I read that yesterdays performance may have been under-rehearsed which I suspect is the reason why Rebecca missed her cue.  Aguilera may have been good vocally, but that is irrelevant.  Rihanna was miles better than Matt, but their duet seemed to work well.

Voice sensation Christina Aguilera
is said to have snubbed The X Factor finalists yesterday, including her duet partner Rebecca Ferguson. According to tabloid reports, Christina lived up to her diva reputation by refusing to speak to any of the contestants during rehearsals for the show yesterday.

An X Factor insider who witnessed the rehearsals told the Daily Mail: “Christina was being a diva. She folded her arms on stage, didn’t talk to Rebecca and then walked straight off afterwards.”

The US star demanded a close set to practice the duet, allowing only essential staff to stay, we even wonder whether Rebecca was included in that!

Last night the pair performed what could be described as an uncomfortable duet together, with Rebecca Ferguson seemingly becoming speechless on stage while Christina sung over the single mum-of-two. Speaking after the performance however, Christina said: “[Rebecca]’s incredible, I saw a tape of her before I came here, singing a Nina Simone song I think and I was pretty blown away, she’s a pretty unique talent!”
Report Dizzy42 December 12, 2010 2:46 PM GMT
Sadly that doesn't surprise me at all.  It was all a bit too apparent on stage (particularly Christina's face on exit).

'Uncomfortable' is the right word to describe it.

Yup. Feel for Becca, as I said on the other thread, didn't seem her fault at all.
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B December 12, 2010 3:44 PM GMT
I don't think either were much cop to be honest but rebecca certainly didn't know wether to sing one part or not.  It looked not only under rehearsed but something just thrown together backstage.  Christina took over the vocals, blew Rebecca away and it went downhill from there.  Matt though also without it being bad certainly wasn't good.  Two failures  for me though with Rebecca having the better song and singing partner whilst Matt's perhaps came across as a betetr all round performance and better chemistry.
