I wish folk on this forum would not post things as facts when they are not. All week i was going to back Mary on the basis she could not win a sing off only to see on here that it was definately decided by a public vote.
Series 7, Episode 9: Britain has been voting over the last 24 hours and now the semi-finalists find out the result of the public vote. The act with the fewest votes will leave the competition, and the others will compete in next week's final. I was surprised when i first saw it was being decided solely a public vote as i thought there was no way they would risk losing Rebecca never mind Cher, but when everyone kept insisting yes it was just a public vote i changed my bet from Mary to Cher. I thought well if Cowell said it was being decided on a public vote even he cant change it to suit him when the votes start coming in.
But he obviously never said anything of the sort.

Exactly. Louis said it was public vote only on Irish radio and that seems to have gone to press. Cowell never said it himself

Well if the folk on hear keep insisting its been stated it was going to a public vote i naturally asummed it was and that their assertion of a fact was backed up with a statement from Cowell himself as anyone knows Louis Walsh has no say in what happens.
I am not saying Mary deserved to stay. I thought she was very poor. But even after her bad performance last night i backed Cher again to go as i thought Mary would still beat her in a public vote.
But, it would not have mattered if Mary had beat her in a landslide. The public votes were not going to count for two balls of blue if Mary was in the bottom two.

Ok, regardless of what people believe was going to happen, the important thing is what people are told will happen before they vote.
If millions of people are phoning in to cast votes then I'm sure OFTEL would agree that there must be some announcment / explanation as to HOW the vote is going to be used.
And this should happen every show.
So where do ITV announce this?
