I'm trying to get a list going, just to understand what I'm involved in here.

I've been polling the bawdeeps and the best they could come up with so far is;

1) Short priced favourites have been turned over before (from a 10 yr veteran).
2) Cardle may sexually interfere with a member of One Direction. (a joke)

What else? Obv he may die before the final etc. Let's get a list going...

3) Simon Cowell - he could stop a train if he really put his mind to it

Charlie

I think that's about it I'm afraid.  Yes short priced have got beat before (Rhydian was about 1/7 even 1/8 maybe and lost three years ago) but then Man Utd were a short price to beat Blackburn last Saturday and they did ............... 7-1!

I think Cardle's privates only go in one direction too. (as far as we know!) [;)]
Report charliebigpotatoes November 29, 2010 9:12 PM GMT
OK so 3) Gym. Cowell seems fine with a Cardle win. His comments have been consistently uber positive.

I'm doing 3) "One Direction are doing really well on Twitter"

charlie - cowell can change though, he's not needed to stitch him up yet.  i'm not saying he will.  i'm just saying that he could.  it's a possible reason why matt might not win.

At the 11th hour the GBP will see through the fake mr nice guy image and desert him in droves

Rebecca delivers the performance we all knew she could and literally brings the house down

That's what the tea leaves say

Your best hope is that Cowell will turn on him now

He let Matt take the lion's share of the vote this weekend, again to make sure wagner was low

His previous affections for Rebecca will return and he create the perfect storm of ramps to get her to victory

Pretty vain hope if I'm honest, it's almost all over

Even today's press story 'Matt falls out with Cher' is probably more likely to win him fans than lose them

George Bailey (this is getting confusing!)

I've greened up all I will on her now and let it ride.  If she wins and I end up level then so be it.

Rebecca is better.

Good question. Not good to be sure about anything, that's why I'm probably more interested in 1.2 on final day, if all indicators still point to Matt, rather than 1.78 now (although I'm already big on Matt).

1.    He disappoints in future performances.

2.    Somebody else excels in future performances.

4.    His arrogant bolshie side to his personality comes out again, maybe worse than before – he lays into somebody verbally, a vile torrent of abuse against another contestant.

5.    Something awfully seedy comes out about his past. Both 4 or 5 would need massive media coverage to have any effect (but that is the modern function of our "free press").

6.    He gets ill. Eg Voice loss from stress and constant practising is not unheard of.

7.    Cowell decides he doesn't want him to win and knobbles him - put's him on second and not before a break and before someone strong, gives him poor songs, gets all judges to criticise him. Judges comments are sometimes nonsense, purely there for manipulation. Such criticism, even for an excellent performance, can an effect on what the public thinks and usually confuses the artist.

8.    All of the above 7 happen.

9.    Something unforeseen happens - something more hideous.

Was he the guy that sang in his vest because he couldn't decide which shirt to wear?

What about if next time he can't decide which trousers OR UNDERPANTS to wear and sings with his old man hanging out?

Can that be added to the list please? (or does that come under Henry'2 no.9 below?)

Good list from Henry and i have been waiting for all of the below to happen for weeks. I have moved money accordngly. Nothing left for me to do.

But why wait for this long to do it? I will look very bad if they try it now. If its in favour of 1D it will look even worse.

Why should Simon shoot himself in the foot and give Matt the pinp spot and the eulogy last week.

Simon knows the figures he loves being right and ahtes being wrong so he has rowed in behind Matt.

Also for commercial reasons Simon needs to behind the wimmer. His backers would not tolerate him undermining the eventually winner. They need Simon selling the act their money will be going on.

It will  look very bad if he tries to nobble him on Saturday.

If they give him good songs this week. Simon dare not try to nobble him in the final.

Yes FLL, reminds me what I love about Rebecca.

She doesn't need two backing singers directly behind her making her look concrete with their swaying (stupid Cheryl), she just needs to do what she can do superbly.

From Simon Cowell's pov there is one stand out reason why Matt may not win this:

Best summed up by Barry the Baptist....

"He's better than good. He's a ****ing liability!"
Report A1 Bionic November 30, 2010 12:14 PM GMT
Unfortunately for Rebecca that video just proves what an uphill struggle she faces

She gets 684,000 views for that, probably her best performance, while Matt is close to getting 3 million views.

Youtube hits isn't exactly a science but them figures must be a little concerning
Report melv November 30, 2010 12:22 PM GMT
I concur. Could be a million this week also.

Report Journeyman November 30, 2010 12:40 PM GMT
Texhnically you should always add the full and editted videos figures together to get the true hits.

The full version adds another 200,000 so it's more like 884,000 all in for that Rebecca song.

The combined views for 'Stay' is about 4,083,000 in comparison. just sayin'...

I'd prefer a rigorously conducted poll to the views on youtube with have proved all but useless in the past.

The latest YouGov poll shows Rebecca closing on Matt, with them both well clear of the others.

It's looked a 2 horse race for weeks and still is.

Thanks figgy. I do not want to get caught out by a rebbecca win. And/ or a Matt assasination.
I have applied a bit more sticking plaster accordingly.

I wonder if everyone understands that the best reason for arguing persistently on here is to provoke convincing views.

The worst reason is to show off whose got the biggest Willy. Melvian organs are are simpply embarrassing.
Report bunnyman November 30, 2010 3:03 PM GMT
figgy - did yougov state the period that was being polled?
Report five leaves left November 30, 2010 3:27 PM GMT
It must have been sometime last week as Paije isn't in the favorite  poll and tops the one about your favourite eliminated contestant.

melv - yep I agree. I usually argue my position  strongly but I'm often swayed by a good argument on the other side from one of the many regulars and good judges on here.
