Just copied this from "rules" section.

I would think they'd have to void all bets

Customers are entirely responsible for their positions at all times. If there is an announcement of any change to the established elimination procedure or any ambiguity as to who is voted off, then Betfair reserves the right to void this market at its absolute discretion. Subsequent events will NOT affect the result of this market.

10th elimination = 10th elimination

The layers won't be happy
Report Johnny`Honk`Fartpants November 26, 2010 4:01 PM GMT
Why? Regardless of double or not there will be a clear 10th elimination.

2 eliminated = twice the chance of any single act being eliminated. A change to the established procedure, wouldn't you say.
Has this double elimination happened before & if so, what happened to the market?
Report GymTanLaundry November 26, 2010 4:07 PM GMT
have you read the name of the market?
Report Johnny`Honk`Fartpants November 26, 2010 4:08 PM GMT
It doesn't effect who will go next though. It increases their chance to be eliminated on the night but not `next`.

"It increases their chance to be eliminated on the night but not `next`."

not technically true.

queue head in hands....
Report chris999 November 26, 2010 4:13 PM GMT
So if there is a double elimination, the 1st one out would be the "winner" of the 10th elimination market.... and presumably there'd be a scramble to get bets on an 11th elimination market on the same night?
Report GymTanLaundry November 26, 2010 4:13 PM GMT
spot on chris.
Report chris999 November 26, 2010 4:15 PM GMT
Damn....... I was gonna back the market and count the profitsLaugh
Cheers for clearing that up

We've already had this situation with the first elimination market. That was not void and nor should this be - so long as a 10th elimination is announced - and not just "two leave".
Report Johnny`Honk`Fartpants November 26, 2010 4:57 PM GMT
Gym sorry for being dim here but why is it not technically true?
Report GymTanLaundry November 26, 2010 5:08 PM GMT
because if it's one elimination, then someone can be saved by a judge's vote.

e.g. if the bottom 3 for instance was:
rebecca, wagner, cher - in that order.

then with 1 elimination - rebecca has finished bottom but is safe as houses against wagner.

but with 2 eliminations - rebecca has finished bottom and is gone.

Johnny,

In a double elimination the person with the least votes is eliminated making them the 10th elimination.  The next two lowest votes sing off later in the program and then the judges decide who will be the 11th elimination!

Yes I knew that bit cheers Helm.

I see your point now Gym.

What the real Moaner said
Report bunnyman November 27, 2010 10:08 AM GMT
Chris even if they paid out on two acts dead heat rules would have applied so the odds of both winners would have been halved.
