I've seen a few comments about Cher being at risk of elimination this week but isn't she due a bounce after last week?

Even with a possible double elimination this week I would have thought that her fanbase would make sure they vote her safe.

I would appreciate any thoughts

Yep can see your point.  I was shocked to see her in bottom 2 last week but she needs to sing a decent good song/s without the rap imo.
Report Mikeeey November 26, 2010 3:09 PM GMT
I can't see how she is "due a bounce".  I really don't think her fanbase is big enough to keep her in for much longer.

Cheers Lou

Judges should save her over Mary, Katie, Waggers and possibly 1D, so looks pretty safe to me.

double eviction, no-one being saved for tenth elimination

I was looking at 11th elimination after lowest vote goes

If she does two songs WITHOUT a decent rap she'll further alienate her core support.

Imagine is a dreadful dirge anyway (although she made it worse with the vocal histrionics)

This week needs to remind everyone about the 'cool, current, young and just what the competition needs' element.
85% sure she'll bounce regardless but must avoid bland ballads.

I agree 100% with the OP - she is due a bounce just as anyone is who lands in a sing-off.
Surprised anyone would (seriously) disagree with that on here! She will get some form of extra bounce vote, almost every contestant does after a B2 placing and survival.
Report shrewdbury November 27, 2010 9:02 AM GMT
Think she's an excellent lay price in elimination market.
Report alfie46 November 27, 2010 9:21 AM GMT
like mikeeey said it also depends on how much of a fan base she has, not  big imo

Big enough to keep her from B2 until last week.

I (seriously) disagree with it

But why mikeeey? There's plenty evidence it's a very reliable effect.

I can see why she wouldn't get a bounce but then why did katie who was SUPPOSED to be far more unpopular?
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 27, 2010 10:47 AM GMT
I think she may well get a bounce as her fans see she's in trouble.  Just think she'd be better without the 'rap' 'attitude' approach myself.

at the start of the comp there is allways about 4 acts on 10%-15%+ votes and the rest scrambling around 1%-5%, so it does not take many more votes to get a bounce and stay out of the bottom 2 the following week. at this end of the comp the bounce has less power, imo
i dont have cher to go 10th in my book but soon after
Report shrewdbury November 27, 2010 10:48 AM GMT
I am 99% confident she will get a positive vote bounce effect - how big it is, is a different question. However, given that she's obviously had support up to now very likely she will avoid the bottom spot this week IMO.
Report Mikeeey November 27, 2010 10:58 AM GMT
There’s only 7 left and it’s apparently a double elimination.  Cher (and Katie) are the only two remaining that have been in the sing-off.  So, I reckon there’s a good chance of Cher being in the B3 this week.  I don’t believe she has that many fans.  As someone said on another thread, Matt and Rebecca are bland enough to appeal to a wide demographic - and Cher isn’t.   And I don’t think there are many young people that really believe she is ‘relevant’.  Obviously, if she puts in a good preformance, she may escape this week.
Report shrewdbury November 27, 2010 11:02 AM GMT
There's quite obviously evidence she has support, by comparing her previous weeks performance against (for example) Katie in terms of B2 - very likely that same support will carry her this week given her B2 last week.
Report George Bailey November 27, 2010 11:13 AM GMT
I have posted this before but cher needs a significantly bigger poll rating than the others even katie to be safe. I think this represents her lack of appeal to the casual voter.
Report George Bailey November 27, 2010 11:31 AM GMT
I retract the above comment on the basis that the yougov poll should be able to capture the non tweeting voters. It could be pretty accurate.
Report Dizzy42 November 27, 2010 11:57 AM GMT
Think that's wise GB2 - I'm with Shrewdbury and almost 100% certain she'll get the bounce she needs this week.
Report shrewdbury November 27, 2010 12:03 PM GMT
She could still land B3 or B2 of course, but I think Katie is a stunning price for the bottom as a comparison and with little real bounce to fall back on now.
Report George Bailey November 27, 2010 12:59 PM GMT
I still think cher needs a substantial post performance poll lead over the wagners, marys and katies to be safe. Remember that aiden had 5x katie vote and finished below her. Took cher 6x (I think) to beat her and at 2x katie vote she finished below her.

I think her lack of broad appeal plus the novelty of 2 songs may water down any usual bounce. Performance(s) will be key as always. Singing slot less so. Lines opening after first act also a bit of an unknown.
Report stringerbell November 27, 2010 1:14 PM GMT
imo she may well get a decent bounce but to stay out of the bottom three tonight, with only 7 left, well she'll need a huge bounce to escape.....

katie to be clear bottom, cher and wagner in sing off...
