Lou, I don't know why you addressed that reply to me, it has no relation to the point I made in my previous post. Time to bow out before my exasperation turns into rudeness too.

Katie - Sex On Fire, KoL Mary - All I Want Is You, U2 and Brass in Pocket, Pretenders Wagner - Creep, Radiohead and Addicted to Love, Robert Palmer Cher - Walk This Way, Aerosmith Matt - Welcome To The Jungle, GnR
XF Updates have these as confirmed??Katie - Sex On Fire, KoLMary - All I Want Is You, U2 and Brass in Pocket, PretendersWagner - Creep, Radiohead and Addicted to Love, Robert PalmerCher - Walk This Way, AerosmithMatt - Welcome To The Jungle, GnR
apparently Louis confirmed his acts' songs on the radio (so assume those above are correct), and said OD have a song from Bryan Adams' album "Reckless"
assume most likely to be Run To You or Heaven (other possibles Summer of 69, Somebody, It's Only Love)

it strikes me as a terrible choice, cant see much upside. perhaps the idea is he really struggles on this, his first, but comes through with the u2 song second...

It wasn't really about XF like [;)] I hoped to crowbar it in somehow but we were done and dusted in 20 minutes

Apparently he had the Chuckle Bros last week, and they left lots of crumbs from pork pies and sausage rolls on the desk...
Oooo, the celeb stories I can relate

I didn't know this Thank You song I have looked it up and still can't say that I have heard it before. bit of a nothing song for me - no melody or hook? Led Zepperlin go right over my head. pretentious grandad rock imo. Bizzare choice for the chosen one.

For me its a very high risk strategy doing songs nobody has ever heard before. For the XF audience is to pick the right "standard" song and make it "your own".
Not happy at all with Rebecca's choices. Listening to Led Zeps thank you for first time (cover on spotify) and its a half decent ditty but unfamiliar. You are so beautiful is virtually designed to send the audience to sleep and/or expose her vocal frailties. .
I think Mary will struggle with the nuances of brass in pocket. U2 she could nail.
Wagner doesn't matter what he sings any more.
Katie will do some indie version of SoF which the panel will praise but the audience wont get.
Cher might be ok with walk this way; bit of a swagger with a rap element middle england might not mind.
And PLEASE can we have a separate thread for arguing etc etc with Lou. It's BORING and time consuming wading through it. Lou for some reason you wind people up on here without trying like some kind of online Mr Bean or Frank Spencer. That's not an insult just an observation by the way.
Welcome to the jungle will be a high pitched car crash (I hope). Another one that will leave public scratching their heads.

Yeah and given that Biffa had never heard of half the Beatles or Elton songs no way has she or Rebecca picked this one. 1.01 Biffa has never knowingly listened to a Led Zep track.

Simon and Led Zep? Mmmmm maybe; right age. Actually I struggle to imagine him actually listening to music at all.
Can't stand Led Zep myself. Made a living ripping off old black bluesmen and paying not a cent in royalties. Sooo boring when they are in concert with their self indulgent posturing. Like The Who live all emperor's new clothes.
Apologies if this should be on chit chat!

Just listened to duran version. Hope even more she doesn't do it. Song seems reliant on the music not the vocal melody so with bland backing track a real risky choice if true.

couldn't be further from the truth GB, try listening to the original studio version on youtube
the song is heavily reliant on vocals, could be another bad week for R Bex

'Thank you' has to be one of the oddest song choices ever on the XF. I doubt that 5% of the audience will be familiar with it, and having listened to it several times I find it hard to remember.

That's what i always tend to say 'Thank You' ............ never heard of it. Why do a song that's so unknown when you can do one the whole country knows? Same with Matt's proposed song ................. never heard of it, poor choice.

Difficult to change the gender references if you ask me ....
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. when mountains crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me.
Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.
Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by. Our love is strong, with you there is no wrong, together we shall go until we die. My, my, my. Inspiration's what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.
And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles, Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one. Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad. If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. If the mountains should crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me.

Thank You ... it's pre '77 so you may have heard it
Only 2 references of 'woman' but difficult to replace with 'man' without sounding silly ... can't off top of my head think of suitable 2 syllable replacement

Welcome To The Jungle seems a strange choice too for Matt's voice, but in terms of comparison with Thank You and people knowing it, it's chalk and cheese. Loads will know the GNR song, hardly anybody watching would know the Led Zep one.

a mention of God Gave Rock and Roll To You - kiss for Rebecca in the comments on XFupdate. Love the song but not sure how it would work for a female voice.

The preview is up on the homepage. http://xfactor.itv.com/2010/videos/video/watch_tonights-show---sneak-peek_item_201559.htm
Waggy singing at least one of songs 'straight', with no dancers. 1D on the boxes again. Rebecca backing singers and a some brass with one of her songs. Cher one upbeat with lots of jumping about.

Zoom, I'm going by what has been said on here re when vote lines open. I thought it was the end of the world when they introduced it for BGT this year but AI (?) experience was that it didn't make a difference to outcome which is counter intuitive I guess.
I have always thought that majority will vote within an hour of show closing.

from the moves Rebecca and the backing singers are doing, together with the brass section and their movement - looks like it would fit something like Valerie.

Yeah good shout squares. All looks a bit Duffy like and she has a similar kind of nasally voice so could put her right back in the hunt. I'll vote for her just for the brass section.

I see your point about the narrative but I'd still rather get two good lots of feedback from the judges for two good performances rather than one bad and then come back with one good if it were me.

on another note, x fsctor have really closed ranks haven't they, interesting there are no definitive leaks on song choices, bar the odd one of course...
