Yesterday. Would not get in my top 100. Its a pleasant if moaning ditty. But It is many peoples fav tune, it is one of the beatles especailly Maccas icons and it is very very very familar.

I wouldn't know if she sings it well she makes everthing sound the same to me.

And lets bracket out those who think she is the greatest singer to ever walk the earth.

But the claim is that large numbers  love her voice and get her. She singing many peoples fav tune, one of the beatles especailly Maccas icons which  is very very very familar. If she does not go fav tonight all you Rebecca fans have got it wrong.

And I have made a tactical error as I have backed her and layed off some of my Matt.

I'm not sure many Rebecca fans are that pleased with the choice.
I'm certainly not and can only see her going favourite if Cowell isn't overly keen on Matt tonight.
Having said that she managed to bring such a dead song as Candle in the wind to life, so who knows what she might do with this.

She's always a little better than you are expecting I think

Apart from last week maybe

I'm kinda thinking it needs to be big ramps and big deramps to get her past boring old Twmatt in the end though
Report melv November 20, 2010 3:22 PM GMT
I am very confused she is allegedly a great singer. She is almost fav already. And there is doubt wether she can push "Yesterday" in front of "Come to bleedin Gum boot wallrus toe jam gether" in a tune contest. Sad I want my money back!LaughShocked

Yesterday a great song obviously so can't go far wrong.  Unlike her to do a ballad though so it will be a nice change to see what she does with it!

We are talking the "better than Leona; greatest singer a talent contest has ever produced" here.
She had better be a great singer coz she has no stage presence and no personality. Bring back Matt singing songs in a way people can recognise in a warbly voice. He would have nailed Yesterday. Better singer than Macca.

Not my words Melv, I'm sure you noticed Grin

I think the tracks people on here (and other forums) would like to hear attempted are very different to those that SCowell thinks the core voters/Saturday night entertainment show viewers would like though.

Forever talking about "current" and "relevant", but they are mostly singing songs from about 30+ years ago.
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 20, 2010 3:33 PM GMT
"better than Leona; greatest singer a talent contest has ever produced" is obviously utter nonsense and someone purely talking thgrough their book (I know unbelievable isn't it but it does go on here!).  Leona is terriffic with a fantastic voice whereas Rebecca's just a good decent singer.  Mismatch IMO.

I am quite deliberatly not picking on anyone coz I value all opinons and have reassessed Rebbecca accordingly. I do wish her fans would be a bit more chipper though its making me worried. A good song is a good song and very good singer will do an entertaining job on any good song.

I am of course talking about pop ditties I do  not expect Rebbecca to nail the queen of the night fom the magic flute or the Diva song from the seventh element

"better than Leona; greatest singer a talent contest has ever produced"

That's not opinion, that's fact Lou.
Wheher that means she can win over the voters with their racks of Westlife CD's is another thing.

Figgy? what the problem with "Yesterday" I don't love it but its ok, very familair and  very very iconic. Surely any old good singer could do a job on it and interpret it whatever way to suit their style.

I backed her coz I thought it was a gift for the above reasons. What am i missing?
Report five leaves left November 20, 2010 4:18 PM GMT
I just don't see it as a showstopper song, as I didn't last weeks either.
The songs that tend to go down well on a show like this are those that build to a big climax and are generally more dynamic than a subtle song like Yesterday.
Report five leaves left November 20, 2010 4:23 PM GMT
I'm sure she'll do a good job with it, as will Matta and 1D.
In many ways though, what Cowell says at this stage is even more important than the performance.

Interesting logic.  Does this mean if she isn't favourite three weeks before the final then she can't win?  I didn't think anyone had to be favourite at all to win!

Blockbuster? You mean like this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQu_A_owVKg

Surely you need a certain type of personality to do blockbuster. I know I do not get shy quiet Rebbecca but blockbuster does not come to to mind. Jazzy bluesy meditative ( Yesterday if she jazzez it down-perfect) if like many (not me) you think she is possessd with the spirit of Billie holiday. Billie Holiday would turn Yesterday into a blues classic.  But Blockbuster? like much about rebbecca and her fans I do not ger it.
Report melv November 20, 2010 4:42 PM GMT
OOOps you never said blockbuster. I take it all back. Showstopper. I actually think she will do a show stopper tonight. Which is why I have backed her. I still do not get why she can't do this song? I think its ideal.
Report five leaves left November 20, 2010 4:48 PM GMT
Yep, that's a blockbuster/showstopping song.
The fact that she didn't sing it or perform it very well didn't really matter.
It was perfect for a saturday night audience.
Report melv November 20, 2010 4:48 PM GMT
Mary will go for the blockbusting Shirley Bassey showstopper tonight. Again!!!!!!!!!. My toes are curling up in embarrasment. As far as Mary is concerned I have blockbuster fatigue. No wonder she has trouble with her nerves.

Deluded.

I did very well  with Syesha for top female. Wierdly her price never came in as she fought her way to the finals.

Not one of her of best songs. Anemic. I now see why the rebbecca fans are worried.

I am too. I can't find any singers on youtube who cover this. Oh dear; maybe only Macca can get away with this. I confess I kept saying a great singer could nail this but I can't find any great singers who have bovvered. Yesterday. The famous Yesterday. Is it a load unsingable tosh or will rebbecca turn it into a blues classic. I cannot stand the suspense. I am not happy. I am now praying that Paige is my man.

Just seen Seal on last weeks ITV2 show. He said Rebecca was the only one with any talent.

what a pile of wank she is.
Report melv November 20, 2010 9:07 PM GMT
So  I backed her at 3.6 only to see it proven that she canot hit a note and she cannot hold a note this song showed what a totally limited singer she is. Layed Matt @ 3.3 and he comes in despite being awful.

Hope she actually has one very good week so I can get off her. She cannot win this the general public will hear all the bum notes that her fans seem deaf to.

Yes, you're being thrown off this bus melv Silly

A very nervy performance from our girl tonight. Her worst by a long way.
The only one who sang in tune to my ears was Mary.

I have jinxed, Gamu, that boy band, the over 25 decent singer John watsit, Aiden.

Should I put all my eggs in the 1D basket and save the world.

I din't see the boy band but from the clip it looks like Simons got a genius tchique. Show the young girls the boys and have backing groups do the singing. Can't lose. The Public sponsors Simons Boy band buisness.

I have taken a loss on Rebbecca. She was dreadful tonight. Better than leona??????? You are having a laugh. Plenty of my 10's on matt to lay off if 1D or any other looking threatening but I think the emperors clothes just fell of Rebbecca. She was shown to be the bad singer many of us could always hear.

You know what its her fake made up look that gets people going. In that photo shoot she was made up to ;ook exactly like Billie Holiaday. What is it a fancy dress contest!!!

Glad to see that you are more concerned with the problems of the inequalites of the world than Xfactor.

Gamu having a bad time doesn't make the world it any better though.
