Matt Cardle has said that he does not think the public should be voting for Wagner Carrilho to stay on The X Factor.

The singer explained that he would rather see Katie Waissel in the competition than the 54-year-old.

Cardle told The Mirror: "The whole Wagner thing, enough is enough. The joke is over now and people should be voting for the singers.

"People would mind leaving the competition less if Wagner wasn't still in it."

The 27-year-old added that at least Waissel is a "good singer".

"I would prefer Katie to stay next week to Wagner, definitely. At least she's a good singer, and she looks good," he said.

No, it's a new story in tomorrows mirror.

It#s nice that he feels Katie is deemed worthy of her place because  she 'looks good'

I agree though that it's old news that the guy is total knobend.

I think I'll take a moment ...................

It's the poll in the final of actual votes.

None of the others matter. Well not until they show Rebecca leading anyway ;)

You REALLY think that.

I asked a good question this morning ..... well I thought it was a good question.

If you had one jackpot ticket going on to the last leg to win a million or nothing if you don't pick the final winner.  Who honestly would that ticket go on.  Mine would honestly go on Matt.  All bets aside I'd place my ticket on him.

You Figgy?
Report Henry VIII November 17, 2010 12:39 AM GMT
Figgy I’m more than twice as green on Rebecca, I also personally adore her singing. But lets be realistic. Matt has been miles ahead in every single poll including serious ones such as Yougov, ICM Research and the much smaller but worthy Survation. It's a different pattern from last year.

Something will have to change. His moaning to the press won’t change anything. Rebecca has to up her game. Those who criticise her for not moving and being samey are right in the context of the XF competition.

Lou - Rebecca.

Henry, yes he went into the live shows was a large lead over everyone, but every poll shows that lead is reducing.
Look at the differnce between the youguv poll and the ICM one 2 weeks later.
Also the trend on DS is Rebecca climbing. Matt losing support.

As for Rebecca not moving, it's only an issue if Cowell decides it's an issue. At the moment he shows no sign of doing so.
All the signs that I'm seeing suggests he wants her to win.

Rebecca had gained slightly on Matt between the two polls but his percentage had also increased a lot.

I'm sure Cowell wants her to win. I think she has more future potential for him. And he will probably try to push her and knobble Matt. Whether that is enough to defeat Matt's female admirer hordes I don't know.

What makes you think Rebecca has more future potential than Matt?  Both decent singers but whereas Matt has nothing specific against him, Rebecca has the fact she's a young unmarried Mum with two kids so has her obligations there, is another black/mixed race singer the same as that have already won this competition two years ago and four years ago and she's got that horrible speaking voice.  If I had to apply some logic with Matt having none of the minuses I've mentioned above out of the two I'd say Cowell would prefer him to win it.  What makes you say he'd prefer rebecca?

Both have great vocal control but Rebecca has something more. In her songs she’s reminded me of the greats who originally sang the song, and yet she’s distinctive, if you hear her sing without seeing her you can recognise her voice. From that dance track we can see that she’s capable of something else quite different. I’ve listened to all Matt’s many songs and haven’t felt the desire to listen again. Seven Summers, his band, have all their stuff available for download, he’s getting more publicity now than he ever will and yet his music has hardly taken off. (Compare that with Eurovision’s Lena who made number one download in 3 countries before the finals had even started).

Matt’s performed proficiently, probably near his peak, but Rebecca’s nowhere near her peak. It’s not long to go now and Cole is a cretin (who was given 4 excellent women and has let them all down) but can you imagine if Rebecca got the confidence she needs – held a stare at the audience, sang to them, put her shoulders back and together, strode easily and elegantly about the stage?

Make my year if she won.

Yes I agree she could do better with a better 'performance' and may well win it but she's had about 6 attempts so far and you must admit bar the very first week they have all been a bit samey.  I would also say Matt's performed better than 'proficiently'.  The 'First time ever' was a knockout surely and I thought he did very well with the Britney song too.  Opinions eh.

Lou everything isn't black and white, you should try exploring the wonderful world of grey!  Just because Matt has a great voice doesn't make him a wonderful human being, and it doesn't mean that he will win if SC doesn't want him too.

My current HONEST view is that Matt has had one extraordinary week, one great week and every other week has shown flashes of brilliance but have been in some way flawed.  I think the repertoire of songs that are available to him is limited compared with Rebecca, and I think his confidence is much more fragile than hers.  Rebecca's support has been built slowly and steadily on very solid foundations, and there is no sign or any fragility in her performances.  I feel that Matt's support is superficial compared with Rebecca's because it came so easily and it could be taken away just as easily if he starts to fade through a crisis of confidence or poor song choices.  If I were a big Matt backer I would befinitely be more nervous going into a show wondering which Matt was gonna turn up than I am as a Rebecca backer.

My current position is that I'm green on the front three and massive red on the field.  I will probably shuffle my green around as things unfold, but right now Matt is very much my smallest green of the three.  Whilst he could easily win I don't feel that he is the chosen one and I see far more signs of momentum from Rebecca and 1D than him.  If I feel this has changed and things are looking good for Matt I will have no problem in backing him.
Report CaptainTobiasWilcox November 17, 2010 11:23 AM GMT
I'm with you bunnyman, in an open competition it doesn't pay to peak too early and current votes are not that important. Imo Rebecca has a lot more to come and is not as one dimensional as some may think. Somebody posted this on the forum earlier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bE1qOxGsSU and whether or not you like the music, Rebecca's vocals are amazing. It only remains for Cheryl Cole to put a bit of variety into her song choices and I reckon she'll blow the grovelling Matt Cardle away.
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 17, 2010 11:26 AM GMT

That's all very well and nicely put across.  I agree Matt has had one extraordinary week, one great week and every other week has shown flashes of brilliance but to me Rebecca has just been 7/10 every week which is about as good as Matt's worst week.  I don't see why after 6 attempts so far we should see Matt suddenly not singing to that standard or thereabouts every week and Rebecca doing any better.  She might don't get me wrong but she's had six attempts so far and I think you'd agree she hasn't had a 'wow' moment or 'bang cop hold of that' moment yet.

I'm quite happy with my Matt bet and don't think he's done anything wrong so far.  The one to beat IMO but of course Rebecca and ONE D are big threats.

Fair enough.  It can't be bad having 'wow' moments though beofre the last week can it?  It's a bit like saying who wants a goal in the 20th and 40th minute you've still got the whole of the second half to go yet!  You wouldn't turn the goals down for your team would you?

in football, a first half goal is worth the same as a last minute goal.

in x factor, a major performance at the business end is worth much more than a major performance in week 1.  just ask aiden.

it's obviously not a bad thing to have a wow performance early on.  as long as you have something left up your sleeve and cowell allows you to play that hand.

There's Duffys mercy for one. I also suspect Matt has others up his sleeve. If Cowell wants Matt out of the top3 he will not let him do a big song in the semi final. My hope is big song last 5. I will have done my final greening before then.

I do think that Cowell reckons there is a gap in the market for a boyband and The Beiber machine has worked out all the buttons to press.

I think the big question who will he sacrifice for 1D. Cher Rebbeca or Matt. There will be a lot of females over 18 very disapointed if Matt is out at last 5. Time for quirky girl to go the Vickers way me thinks.Give her a really nasty rap to do or a song that is simply too hard for her.

Can we keep this real please! Mikeey, Alexander Burke is who I had in mind when I said you can't peak too early. Lee Dwyze was another in A.I. Alexander came from out of the top 3 to win it didn't she.
Report Dizzy42 November 17, 2010 8:32 PM GMT
Captain - surely it is you who is being naive?  Do you really think that the judges choose the songs?!

It has been well documented in previous seasons (including Evie on the X Factor) that the producers, Cowell and vocal coaches all meet on a Sunday to discuss the following week's theme and song list.  Including provisional picks for who gets what.  Likewise last minute changes are down to the producers, not the judges, when things don't work in rehearsals.

It's quite possible that the other judges get some input at this stage, but Cowell and the production team will have the casting vote on any disputes, that's for sure...
