That's all very well and nicely put across. I agree Matt has had one extraordinary week, one great week and every other week has shown flashes of brilliance but to me Rebecca has just been 7/10 every week which is about as good as Matt's worst week. I don't see why after 6 attempts so far we should see Matt suddenly not singing to that standard or thereabouts every week and Rebecca doing any better. She might don't get me wrong but she's had six attempts so far and I think you'd agree she hasn't had a 'wow' moment or 'bang cop hold of that' moment yet. I'm quite happy with my Matt bet and don't think he's done anything wrong so far. The one to beat IMO but of course Rebecca and ONE D are big threats. |

Why do you call him 'the grovelling'. What grovelling has he done? |
|
By:
Yes Tobias, I posted it, and I also posted it a couple of other times including just after her first audition, funny that people only notice it now.

I can't stand the way he keeps putting his hands together in prayer and bowing. If I was Dannii I'd make him up with a few whiskers and get him to sing "Pick a pocket or two"

BTW Lou, I feel sure that Rebecca will have that "wow" moment, hers is the best voice in the competition and I'm just looking forward to her raising her game beyond Matt's capability.

I agree I can't stand that 'prayer' thing he does and said so at the very start. Also rebecca may well have that 'wow' moment all I'm saying is Matt already has at least once and Rebecca's had 6 attempts so far, had the pimp spot last week ............... and still hasn't. |

I like how the fact Rebecca has a kid has suddenly turned into a positive for the record company. Nothing like remaining objective.

is having a "wow" performance really worth anything before the last 2 or 3 shows?
|
|
By:
It's good as it let's them know what to use in the final i.e. if they wanted Matt to win, he'll be pimp slot and he'll do Britney/FTEISYF again. If they don't, they'll give him YBR again

indeed AR. but do they want him to win?
a wow moment in the next couple of weeks for any of them would be a huge momentum shifter though. |
|
By:
the "wow" moment, if there is one, can come right at the end of the show like it did for Alexandra when she sang with Beyonce. No point in having that "wow" moment too soon I would have thought.

Lou, for me Rebecca's Adele song was close to a stop you in your tracks moment, but I accept that her massive moment is yet to come. I do think you'll find you're in a tiny minority if you really believe that Rebecca's best = Matt's worst.

Fair enough. It can't be bad having 'wow' moments though beofre the last week can it? It's a bit like saying who wants a goal in the 20th and 40th minute you've still got the whole of the second half to go yet! You wouldn't turn the goals down for your team would you? |
|
By:
ridiculous analogy.
in football, a first half goal is worth the same as a last minute goal. in x factor, a major performance at the business end is worth much more than a major performance in week 1. just ask aiden. it's obviously not a bad thing to have a wow performance early on. as long as you have something left up your sleeve and cowell allows you to play that hand. |
|
By:
Reckon One D and Take that singing Never Forget on finals night might have that wow factor. What do you think chaps? Just a case of waiting to pay out now.
|
|
By:
Don't know the ong so don't know. I'd like to see Matt sing 'Without You, the Harry Nilesen song from the early 70's. So many songs I suppose how do they just choose one every week.
|

never heard "never forget" by take that??
i'd say you were fishing if i didn't know better.... |

By:
lou - with his high pitched voice would matt not be better off doing the original version by mariah?

There's Duffys mercy for one. I also suspect Matt has others up his sleeve. If Cowell wants Matt out of the top3 he will not let him do a big song in the semi final. My hope is big song last 5. I will have done my final greening before then. I do think that Cowell reckons there is a gap in the market for a boyband and The Beiber machine has worked out all the buttons to press. I think the big question who will he sacrifice for 1D. Cher Rebbeca or Matt. There will be a lot of females over 18 very disapointed if Matt is out at last 5. Time for quirky girl to go the Vickers way me thinks.Give her a really nasty rap to do or a song that is simply too hard for her. |

I think that some of you are giving Cowell too much credit. He doesn't choose the songs, can you imagine him telling the likes of Dannii Minogue what her contestant is going to sing? Can we keep this real please! Mikeey, Alexander Burke is who I had in mind when I said you can't peak too early. Lee Dwyze was another in A.I. Alexander came from out of the top 3 to win it didn't she.

Captain - surely it is you who is being naive? Do you really think that the judges choose the songs?!
It has been well documented in previous seasons (including Evie on the X Factor) that the producers, Cowell and vocal coaches all meet on a Sunday to discuss the following week's theme and song list. Including provisional picks for who gets what. Likewise last minute changes are down to the producers, not the judges, when things don't work in rehearsals. It's quite possible that the other judges get some input at this stage, but Cowell and the production team will have the casting vote on any disputes, that's for sure... |
