no one really stood out last night but she is the class in the competion
Report George Bailey November 14, 2010 10:31 AM GMT
Just wish the gap in the polls between her and Matt would start reflecting the performances. Twitter suggests that a lot of people remain unconvinced by rebecca because; a) she just stands and sings in the same way all the time and, more worryingly (for her backers, b) she is not memorable after the performance.

Time is running out and she needs a Cher/Stay moment or do something a bit different at least. Not sure same old same old will be enough on its own.

didnt think it was that good personally

The Daily Telegraph covering X Factor. Deary me.

The problem with Rebecca last night was that she had a song with a lot of lyrics and it needed to be taken at a faster tempo than usual. The second half was excellent imo. But it is true that there is an awkwardness about her as a performer which may stop her from communicating with enough to win a show like this, even though it endears her to me.

I've thought that for a while about her.  I can see why people like her as I do myself but every week exactly the same just standing there not moving a muscle and not knocked my socks off once yet.  Last night was her prime chance and she just didn't take it.

I've just listened to her Candle for the second time and thought it was vocally superb. I didn't like it last night and I think it's because of her nervous hand movements at the beginning, almost like she visually needed to count the beat.

I think her nerves and her battle to overcome them may make her more interesting in a show that spans over several months like XF. Crucially she has been steadily gaining support throughout the series, and is now gaining on Matt.

Did you watch Matt again?  How did you think he did.  I thought he was good again and just the pick of the night really I do.  Not 'wow' but good again and he's kept up a fine standard right from the start with a 'wow' moment thrown in last week.  Rebecca's had her 'pimp' slot now too so Matt due one again in the next two or three weeks?
Report Henry VIII November 14, 2010 4:30 PM GMT
I agree Lou, Matt was the performance of the evening for me too.

Both of them have interesting ways to “make the song their own”. Rebecca has a more unique voice for me. Great for recording.

Rebecca has to improve her stage presentation like Matt has. Her left hand movements are usually complimentary but were very offputting last night. Her right hand holds the mike like her life depends on it.

I very much hope it’s these two in the final, not just for the betting but because it would be exciting and it would do the program proud. Much better than last year.

I've liked every year since I started with Leona's win.  I noticed Matt (who's not exactly Mr Dancer lets's be fair!) at least walked a bit last night!  I know it's not much but it's a start right!  Rebecca really does need to 'perform' better I feel to do herself justice.  I don't want Rebecca in the final as I'm betting totally against her but appreciate she could well be there.  Cher could do it too I feel but lets herself down too much.

boring, boring, boring.  Just stands there like a lump of wood.

i thought that was her worst performance last night
Report LOU MACARIS TARTAN B November 14, 2010 6:45 PM GMT
Wouldn't say it was her worst I think that's not right but just pretty much what she's done for the last three weeks.  Good but not the best of any individual week.  Had the pimp slot and never quite lived up to it.
Report GT November 14, 2010 6:51 PM GMT
i think she is a great singer...but if you listen to her again last night..was a bit off

Only listened once, she sounded ok to me pretty much.

She wasn't a bit off. She was different from Elton John if you're looking for karaoke, as was Matt and Aiden. Actually Aiden was on the dark side of the moon.

Rebecca has the ideal X FACTOR winner profile. Last night she stood out. Matt is excellent and One Direction are "adorable" but Rebecca has the extra brilliance. Her simplicity is her strength.

She also has a classy voice and image but above all she appears vulnerable and people warm to girls like her. It will be Leona all over again in a few weeks.

Totally agree Rowbeesfouler. Also she only has to move towards the audience to win.

Very well said m8.  All this s hit about her not moving wtf? she has a class that is defined by her simplicity and humblenesss.
Comparing her to Leona I think is amusing, she is far far better.
