I have never really paid much attention to Matt since he messed up at the judges house, I did rate him at the start with his classic song choice at bootcamp, but when he messed up at the judges house I suddenly stopped paying him to much attention. Its clear many think him to be a good thing in this competition, so I went back over his last 2 performances which confirms what I had been thinking, his bleeding love song poor, and the previous one Brittany a little better. I just feel he will struggle get the same combination which propelled him to the fore, as that classic bootcamp song which he did sing very well.

Whether he is good or not he is holding up very well in polls which suggests a large bedrock of support.

I thought that was a poor song choice last week though he was the star of the show when he did 'Britney' although a strange choice again perhaps. I thought he was terriffic when he did 'Firt time ever I saw your Face' but not quite lived up to that yet. I think he will pull a real 'wow' moment out again soon though. I think he's the pick of this bunch but Leona, Alexandra, Rhydian and Joe would all beat him IMO. |

Doesn't really matter when he "ticks all the right boxes" for this show. Obviously massive support and must be kept onside, even at 11/4[;)]

Yes that what I was trying to get at, he has large support rather than the strongest talent. His song at bootcamp....first time saw your face propelled him to the fore, and I cant see him getting the same combination again, that is a classic song which he did sing very well. Im not convinced he is even next to Rebecca in terms of talent.If you look over Rebecca song choices which have been poor, you can at least enjoy the song, even though I havent liked the records.You give Matt songs like Teardrops and see if he would look even half decent.

I do not know who thinks he is that good. He is a good singer and IMO he has done a very good job on quite a few songs. He is also versatile. Its pathetic that anyone might think he is totally exceptional when thousands of people in the uk could sing as wellas him.
As many have said he ticks a lot of boxes for winning this. Is it enough? If had a clue i would have had a lot more on him than I have. Now Gamu is as good as some make out . Lestioen to THAT  note in her second audition. She is 18 and can only get better. And when her troulbles are over she will have a lot to sing about and a lot of people to sing for. |

It's not about quality of singing with Matt though, it's all about the emotional connection he makes with the public.
Not only that, he connects on an emotional level with young and old alike. Absolutely key in terms of X Factor winners. I rarely back favourites, but I've been adding this week for the first time. Drifted far too much after last week |

They were all moaning about Cowell cutting Matt off in BC, jack. Some cited it was so he could do a complete version on the lives. I hope that they don't mess with it tho.

I've gone off Matt, he's had one brilliant week, the other three have shown flashes of brilliance but have all been in some way flawed. The one song he got spot on was by far the least vocally challenging and he had his guitar to hide behind. Tonight's song was utterly brilliant at Boot Camp, and I guess it will be tonight, but its not gonna show us anything new.

Agreed he will be good again with that same combination, difference this time other have decent songs. He should have had the balls to give his fans something new, but he must be feeling the pressure of the others after some really average performances,so reverted to playing safe.

in a way though, it is taking a risk because he has to improve on the snippet we heard when we heard it before. If it doesn't live up to expectations, the seed could be planted that he isn't as good as people thought he was.

Well that was better than I have evr given him credit for. I am impressed by the sheer effort more than anything. Respect. The big question is; are the girls loving it enough to multivote against Rebbecca. I could do with Cher and Grimmer 3 and 4 with big perfoamnces getting them there for my book. I need 1D to die. |

The problem Matt will have now is the fact I doubt he will improve on this song combination, but he is very good at that song no doubt. Rebecca has been solid every week and tonight amazing again.

20/20 for last nights performance. Perfection (but I reckon the Manchester lad who won it a few years ago could do as good a job on that song. Couldn't fault him though, the song was perfect for him, just as last weeks was for Cher, and For Your Eyes only was for Aiden etc etc etc

Looking at the Theme yesterday I personally thought this would suit Matt more than Rebecca, with her distinctive vocal. Rebecca stole the show last night and has easily been the most consistant. Matt yesterday seemed out of his comfort Zone again, his facial expressions make him look as though he is at full pelt with some songs. This is about the 3rd time he has looked under pressure to deliver. I know many on here think he is the star, but I really dont see this, he just doesnt give me any feel of a star in the making. I believe Matt is only at the head of the betting with his one bootcamp song.
