Certainly good news for her backers. Eoghan was 11s mid way through the finals, IF she makes it there, she'll probably be even higher as the market goes toe to toe with Cardle (1.33) and Ferguson (5).

Diana sang awfully every week. Even with her good looks and youngters vote she finished .................... 4th! Eggnog was just as bad get over it.

Yep, I realise I was wrong about her all along. She was out of tune throughout her time the XF and she's just been very lucky to get a no.1 album and single and to star, to much acclaim, in the westend.
Are you off to see Danyl at butlins again this year?

I have no interest in Danyl or what he's up to whatsoever for a start. Also I do belive Claire Sweeney played the same part in the west end didn't she? Big star!!
A number 12 single these days is about 2000 sales isn't it. Did you see her a couple of weeks ago on the X Factor. Dreadful again surely?
You obviously done your dough on her and can't get over it. It must be a bad feeling I'd imagine but heh ho.

120,000 is not to shabby imo

Upon its release, Overcome debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, selling 132,065 copies in its first week, the fourth largest first week sales for a female singer in 2009.[12] The album became a commercial success in Europe being certified multi-platinum in the United Kingdom and Ireland, selling 700,000 copies.[13] As well as meeting with positive reviews, Overcome earned a nomination for Best Album at the Urban Music Awards.[14]
Alexandra sold more than that in 1 week!! and went on to sell over 700,000. A touch more I think you'd agree?

Diana won me a fair amount that year. Backed her @ 14 and layed off around 3.5 -4 iirc , after the star story and shifted most of my green to the competent but rather dull Alexandra. So I'm not hurting at all.
For me Diana is the most talented performer they've ever had on the show and her success since would back that up.
The fact that she didn't win a highly manipulated popularity contest is neither here nor there.

You say 'For me she's the most talented' etc etc etc. That's fine.
For me she's not though ...... That's fine though as well I think you'll find. In fact I THINK she was awful. I think you'll find that's fine to say too.
Thought you might have bough high and sold low as everyone does that on Betfair. We all win so you wouldn't want to be the only loser would you?

Hey, Mr. Churchill comes over hereTo say we're doing splendidly. But it's very cold out here in the snowMarching to and from the enemy.Oh I say it's tough, I have had enough,Can you Stop The Cavalry?
We all like who we like, Lou, but to say Diana never sang in tune is utter b0llox. That was my initial point which I believe is hard to argue with, even for you.

Of course we can all like who we like but that means I can too surely?
I thought Diana was truly awful as was Eggnog. How they got that far is beyond me but people vote who they want for I suppose. I just think she got by on her looks and sweet little girl thing alone. Every single week she sang parts of the song flat. The judges just don't mention it. Look at last wek pretty much every act is 'that was brilliant' from every judge.
Sorry to disagree but I'm entitled to my opinion too you know.

It's great when you can ignore some of the a$$holes on here. You just don't bother answering them as you've given up with them for being rude and nasty to you in the first place. So you just ignore them and hope that next year they won't do the same then I'll answer every single question .... within reason of course!

must be great to spout nonsense, and then when challenged hide behind "i'm not talking to you".

Not for me bud. Think Mary is good for a 4th/5th spot, possibly 3rd, which is higher than I see Cher finishing. GL bud.
Had the Diana argument myself with others. I personally didn't like her, but I got very aggravated when told she wasn't popular. 2 million facebook fans, youtube hits in the millions, and a number 1 albulm and singles suggests she was and is very popular.

FWIW I think Diana has been the best contestant they've had on there with regards to credibility and sales, I just think her mainstream audience weren't as sad as us and were out on Saturday nights (the 18-30 yr old females), but have all willingly bought her albulm and singles. Not many X Factor singers who didn't even make the final have been able to live up to their pathetic last televised words of 'this is just the start for me' . Without sounding like Cowell, I remarked at the time that she was a ready made genuine star and money making machine.

fwiw regarding vickers, for me she's been a massive disappointment since leaving the show. i hadn't heard of ellie goulding back in 2008, but that's the sort of artist i'd have hoped vickers would be come.

FWIW I think Vickers is shyte and proved it again the other night on X Factor. She's even lost her looks so she has nothing at all going for her now. Pontins here she comes!

Diana REALLY irritated me (don't know if it was the strange hand movements or the nasally voice that did it for me), but I don't doubt she was popular.
The problem is with marmite acts like this is that they're not mainstream enough to win. Even Rhydian polarised opinion, so failed to garner enough support in the final.
Both Cher and Aiden could fall into this category this year - good enough singers in their own right (if you like that kind of thing), but far too quirky or niche to gain the broad appeal that's needed to win the X Factor.

lou - everyone's allowed to dislike an act, it's just personal taste.
however saying things like it's out of tune, when you actually mean "the tone of her voice and style of singing isn't really to my taste" tends not to pass without comment.

Vickers sang flat in parts every single week. FACT If people can't hear it that's their problem. "the tone of her voice and style of singing isn't really to my taste" either but I HONESTLY thought she was rubbish.

if she (or any other singer for that matter) did sing out of tune, what's wrong with liking the performance as a whole? liking it more than a bland but note-perfect performance from a non-entity of a personality belting out a diva derge?
shaun ryder is not a good singer, but you listen to "24 hour party people" - it's awesome! (in fact watch the film too - BRILLIANT!)

Have to agree with the GTL - in fact many of the greatest performers are what would normally be classed as bad singers... You only have to look at Morrissey, Liam Gallagher, Shaun Ryder - a lot of the Manchester scene fall into that category. An acquired taste, for sure.
I wouldn't necessarily mention Diana in the same breath as those esteemed artists though!!!

Not true really, Rhyddian won in every district of the UK apart from Scotland where leon got over 90% of the vote.
Rhyddian was just unlucky to face a Scot in the final.

For my money Alexandra was always a superior singer to Vickers. Vickers had a gimmick and a distinctive tome but it was false and forced and became annoying rather than endearing although I thought her singing Call Me was one of the best X Factor performances ever.

But Lou - the big difference between Alexandra and Diana was that the latter DID polarise opinion. You either loved or hated her, whereas I think Alexandra was far more mainstream and acceptable to the masses.
That's why I think the likes of Aiden and Cher will ultimate struggle to drum up sufficient support to win overall.

I really thought she was great from the moment she did Candyman.
She was great doing the upbeat pop songs (toxic) but obviously Cowell made sure she sand mainly ballads!

I know not everyone here on the forum liked her, but I thought Alexandra was a really solid performer throughout, very likeable and a worthy winner. It's the Cowell machine that's ruined her. They were determined to make her distinctive and different from Leona and they've basically stuffed any chance she had of a singing career with some truly dreadful material.
It's hard to recognise the same person now!

6 or 7 against 1 and they STILL can't beat me. I'm still here, on the clear favourite as clearly stated from day 1 (unlike 99% on here who tell you the winning horse after it's crossed the line) and they also know for a FACT (IF THEY'VE GOT ANY GRAIN OF HONESTY IN THEM) that I did the same last year with Joe and the year before with Alexandra.

It's great isn't it?! You get to 'sacrifice' your Saturday nights watching this pantomime in the thinly veiled pretence that it's for the sake of your other half, while all the time you get to punt more than on the horses and footie combined!

It certainly adds a lot to the interest. Whether or not I had a good weekend used to depend on the results by 5.00pm on a Saturday... Now I have to wait until around 9.00pm on a Sunday night to know whether it's going to be euphoria or depression!
