Katie Waissel from most hated to underdog to winner now thats a journey

I don't normally subscribe to these ramp threads but I must say I agree. I can't see her not making the last 5 and when the cuteness of Matt and One Dimension have worn off, I can't see any reason why she can't win it.

there's no doubt that she can sing but I can't see the masses suddenly voting for her - she is a batant attention seeker and her song choice this week made her a condender for being a novelty act along with Wagner

She is having a Rhyddianesque journey.

One of these mornings you'll be on your way to work or sign on and you'll notice the front page of the Sun has something nice to say about Katie. At which point you should dash back to your computer and get as much on her as you can.

but I do wonder why Cowell has changed to a single elimination this week - given the nature of the show, it's fair to assume the change is to keep someone in, possibly Katie or Cher??

was only thinking Katie has turned around what looked like a impossible situation,and was able to go on a journey.
the only contestant that could clame to a have a true underdog chance(a bit odd when katie started has the most fame hungry wanabe in XF)
i dont mind getting shot down if anyone can post reasons why katie cant be top 4 with a real chance at the end.

Thought her performance in Week 2 was exceptional, and was entertaining last night, and for a few reasons she's very popular in house The only one I've hedged on so far.

I think she's good enough to win tbh - Cowell will have to get the public on board though

Sorry LOU MACARIS TARTAN B, when I said 'easy money' I didn't mean to win the competition. I meant it in a more tradeable way. But if you spot the plant early, you can make money. Forget all the 'I think she can win' comments, she's simply not popular enough. So I agree with you there.

I'm all for an underdog, people like Jedward managed to pull it round to an extent so it's certainly possible - however Katie will be quite a struggle to shift public opinion that drastically. Some small hints of it happening but will take one hell of a push from Simon and co, not worth it at the odds for me.

For me, there are so many 'one trick ponies' this year who patently cannot win – Mary, Cher, Rebecca, Aiden... – that Katie is just about the only possible outsider worth considering to make the final 3.

for me looked like it was between Matt and 1D even before JH's. Actually Liam who became 1D. Seen nothing to alter my opinion as yet.

I must have been watching another show. I thought her performance was cràp last night along with the song. She's in my bottom 3 along with Wagner and and Bel amie

Her performances since the sing off have been excellent. Simon wants this girl in the final. Just look at the production. Set up as hated figure, lots of nasty stories in press, but is stripped back, and gradually turned into a favourite. Simon's pygmalion project.

I wouldn't call them 'excellent' myself but I thought she did a catchy song last week that I'm sure most people were singing along to in their heads.  I don't personally think she's much of a singer myself.  Thought she murdered the Beatles song in her sing off.  Just not good enough.

I thought her Beatles number was good, and I think she stands out because she's got quite an old, bluesy voice. You'd recognise her instantly in the charts, almost a Will Young type warble going on. And I just reckon there's a lot invested in her behind the scenes, meaning they'll want her album to sell well when it's released. Think she could win, and definitely think she'll be around for a while.

Funnily enough I admire her for having a go and she's had dsome bad press.  Is it her fault her Nan's a hooker for instance?  That said it is a singing competition and I think she's worse than everyone from the last 16 bar Wagner.  Can't really remember FYD was it? but bar them and Wagner she's the worst for me so how she's got this far ..................

Yep she's not for me at all.  Survived a few sing offs.  Better than TreyC, better than Aiden, better than paije?  No chance.

Katie seems to be the only contestant with any real stage finess with an ability to sing. She has a unique voice and can certainly see her improving given the chance. Matt and rebecca can sing but would they be enetertaining performing live, my answer is no, there very average. Imo Katie is a great bet @40's

Quite clearly Cowell and co. need to keep her in long enough to justify the recording contract that she's apparently already lined-up, but they're on a hiding to nothing if they think that they can turn around public opinion that much!

Katie is not a crowd pleaser.

She turns people off for some reason that I cannot fathom.

I would probably say that this is more down to her personality and press coverage than her lack of singing ability.

Not many of them are good singers this year but some of them are very popular.

I must say Katie has earned a lot of respect from me as the series has gone on. She's a gutsy spirited young lady. The same cannot be said for Cher though.
