right...it does make me wonder why they bother with these themes when they come up with something as pointless as this...and cannot see how Tweedy is a `musical hero` by any stretch of the imagination

Do they get the choice to sing any song? Of all the showstoppers one could think of there does seem to be some weird choices along the way. look at last week, of any number 1 anywhere in the world ever that's the best 16 they could choose?

no chance that they'd be allowed to pick their own songs. they'll be given their song choice, and told why it's a good selection for them, and have to like it or lump it.

yep...it would be good if they had a week where the contestants picked a song of their choice...but that would mean Cowell allowing them to think for themselves
