Didn't realise that sq.  What credence would you give to the wildcard idea?
Report squares September 14, 2010 7:33 PM BST
It seems quite late in the day to spring it on the audience now.  What do we have?  Another week of auditions this weekend, both nights I think.  Then a weekend for boot camp and a weekend for JHs before live shows start. Unless they do a show where they showcase the people who don't get through it's going to be difficult for some of them to have a fair chance to shine as some acts get loads of coverage and others barely get a look in.

9th October - 11th December (I assume) works out as 12 down to 3, I think.  Otherwise would need some double evictions.
Report Topper Robson September 14, 2010 7:44 PM BST
Think the wildcard scenario is dependent on Gamus citizenship hearing. Cheryl made her choices today unless theyve found a reason to delay it and Gamus hearing is Thursday I dont think Simon would take the chance on preempting the verdict nor would he attempt to influence it. In this scenario he could have a wildcard show where Gamu would belatedly be selected.
Report Topper Robson September 14, 2010 9:35 PM BST
Bought the X Factor magazine today £1.95 wasted, not a lot in it tbh featured acts on last week FYD and Tom seemed to get the most coverage though Paije and Nicolo also featured. Cher was the only act from previous shows to be mentioned unsurprisingly.
Mentions of this coming weeks acts were for Aidan Grimshaw Rebecca Ferguson and John Wilding. Chloe Mafia also gets a mention though the article mentions her prostitution so not a positive will probably buy it next week but no exclusives whatsoeverSad

Surprised by all the negative comments, even more so in the original DM article which has been up a while, also on youtube. People can't stand the fact she's been a professional and was quiet about it.

Contrast that attitude with the US where nobody minded that a professional dancer - Nicole Scherzinger, leader of ****cat Dolls - entered and went on to win the US version of SCD.

Report Henry VIII September 17, 2010 6:57 PM BST
We're still waiting for Cheryl but the implications of the DM article are that Katie's through. I think Cowell wants her through, she's well known to him.

She's my personal favourite but I don't know if she's a gambling proposition partly because of her bad reception on the net but also because I don't know how versatile her hoarse jazzy voice is for all the XF genres.

She's a songwriter. She writes her own songs that suit her and sound great, she would have been much better suited to BGT.
Report GeorgeBrush September 17, 2010 8:09 PM BST

The article says shes through to the next stage, the next stage is the judges houses which is Cheryls. They started filming at sandbanks today so the decision to put her through to the final 3 has yet to be made. Cher is a banker, I dont know how Gamus citizenship hearing went and Rebecca Ferguson shown tomorrow is rumoured to be very good. Personally I would hold all bets on the girls until we have a clear idea who is through.

Are you sure that's what it meant Topper? The article came out this afternoon, they are either at or have just finished the judges houses. Any decent journalist writing in the present should write about what's happening in the present. Not the past just to suit the TV narrative.

Personally I would hold all bets on the girls until we have a clear idea who is through.

Yes, I think what we have for the other judges, who are ahead of Cheryl, is just rumours. Nothing confirmed as far as I know.

Today's Front Page of the Irish Daily Star:
GIVE IRISH X FACTOR FANS THE RIGHT TO VOTE
Angry Louis joins with TV3 in phone battle.
X Factor supremo Louis Walsh last night joined forces with TV3 to demand that Irish audiences get to vote in the hit reality show.
The music guru claims hopefuls such as Tesco Shop Assistant Mary Byrne (50) will be left at a disadvantage.
"We need to organise voting in Ireland this year," he insisted. "It's a travesty that Irish viewers can't vote.
It's terribly unfair to the contestants when everyone else gets a hometown vote."
Seething Louis said Irish contestants will fight a losing battle on the ITV show as long as viewers in Ireland cannot vote.
Louis (58) claimed Jedward missed out on a place in the finals last year because of this.
"We had 700,000 Irish viewers into TV3," he pointed out.
"It was a farce when Jedward copuldn't get support from home."
He said an Irish winner may be on the cards - but only if British network ITV allows Irish viewers to vote.
"They just need that extra push," he insisted.
Louis said he would join in the TV3 battle to get the phone lines set up because "if ITV can't set up phone lines, Irish contestants are unlikely to get to the finals".
TV3 claims it has been battling to allow its viewers to vote. It said: "ITV have the rights to voting. Our hands are tied unless ITV move to change their position."
Along with Tesco worker Mary Byrne, Rebecca Creighton (21) from Tallaght and Mullingar's Niall Moran (16) hope to make it to the live shows this year.
Ends

Dunno about Louis' 700k viewers. 800k viewers voted in the final of the All Ireland Talent Show on RTE tv earlier this year, which Chloe Coyle Love hosed up in. This may be significant if they manage to pull off a vote for an Irish competitor. Maybe not in the o/r, but it could affect elimininations massively in the earlier stages on the comp. Doubt ITV will offer us the opportunity, mind

Why don't we just take it over and make it part of the UK again? Problem solved.

You've been spared our reality tv drivel equivalence! Regard yourself as very lucky!

How many Irish comps are on Brit TV (with a public voting aspect) for you to watch and vote in?
Ans: All of them that are broadcast on UTV!
Viewers watching RTE reality TV shows broadcast in Norn Iron via UTV are afforded the right to vote.
Chloe Coyle (mentioned above) was from Tyrone.

The point re: X Factor is that auditions are here, contestants from here take part, so therefore fans from their regional demographic should be allowed to vote. Simples.

How did they know she was a duffer when all the other examples of her singing shows she is brilliant?

If they did not know she was a duffer why should they autotune her and no one else. BTW autotune makes good singers sound autotuned and makes bad singers sound worse. There is no point autotuning a singer who cannot sing in tune. It just makes them more out of tune.?

How come she had the look on her face of someone who is singing brillantly if she was singing badly. And why was her crowd 10x more extatic than Chers crowd?

PS I know she cannot win. Unless............she improves every week then singer impossibly well in the final even then some fanciable lad or lads will probably get the vote.

It would be useful to know who they auto-tuned before we can speculate as to why they auto-tuned Gamu.
