Ghana had a fantastic 2010 World Cup, progressing to the Quarter Finals, after a tough group.
Infamously, Luis Suarez blocked an Extra Time goal-bound header off the line and the resulting penalty by Gyan was missed.
Uruguay won the penalty shoot-out, denying Ghana a deserved semi-final spot.

Gordon Banks earned 73 caps for England along with his famed World Cup winners medal.
Club-wise he only won a couple of League Cups.
Note the pretty poor quality gloves, so different from today's hi-tech, huge ones.

On 22 June 1974 in Hamburg, an historic game took place, in the World Cup 1974 first round.
Hosts West Germany met their political rivals East Germany for the first time.
Both teams had already qualified from the group and along with the understandable nervousness,
the match was pretty tame; East Germany scoring the only goal (Sparwasser - FC Magdeburg) with about 10 minutes to go.
Here Franz Beckenbauer (Bayern Munich) shakes hands with Bernd Bransch (FC Carl Zeiss Jena),
with the Uruguayan referee looking on.
