No, I haven't been on the talcum powder.
They may not actually win it, but I can see them going quite far in the tournament and trading at a lot shorter than the 33/1 currently on offer.
They have the benefit of being used to the sort of conditions they will come up against and have a group that should see them progress without too much fuss (Greece, Ivory Coast & Japan).
Their defence was extremely solid throughout qualifying and seem to balance stubborn South American resilience with attacking flair. The front 3 of Falcao, James Rodriguez and Jackson Martinez will cause problems for even the best of defences with able back up in the form of Bacca, Guarin, Cuadrado and the exciting young Quintero.
I'll be having a decent bet on them and don't plan to lay anything off until the semis!

Agree with you. Far too big a price. Them and Chile.
Doubt either will win - and let's be honest Chile have a tough job getting out of their group - but you'll have a decent shout for your money with either. |

In the balance at the mo MC. Word is that he's recovering well though. To be honest I wouldn't be put off if he didn't make it. They have decent cover and the price will probably get even more attractive.

I'm also jumping on the Colombia train!
Unfortunately, whilst they should easily top the group, they are in the top, tough, half of the draw, so face a second round against Uruguay/Italy/England and then a likely Quarter Final against Brazil. |

fwiw Brazil is a huge country with many different climate zones and where Colombia are playing shouldn't favour any team, it might be reasonably hot but not any hotter than southern Europe and the humidity should be lower. Also, were it humid, all the teams in group C would have grown up experiencing such conditions. Further, should they meet England in the last 16 I'd fully expect the climate to be more similar to England than Colombia if they were to play in Recife

After timing I know, but have a good bet on them myself and had my biggest pre tourney bet on them winning their group at Evs. Thoroughly impressed with them thus far.

Might try a Columbia v Mexico final at 300/1, looks like a bit of value. Not impressed by any of the so called big teams so far.

i actually picked a uruguay , german , final, uruguay are a poor side , germans just the same as always, columbia have looked good but are greece , ivory coast and japan really big players, uruguay have just had some luck really but in comps like this sometimes teams just have the luck, and some dont, im picking germany as one finalist, not sure of the other.

they look good and have won 3 Group games scoring 9 Goals.
But this has been against largely inferior Opposition...IMO they have yet to be really tested yet Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan are all very mediocre sides. Although if Suarez gets banned as we expect, then Colombia have a great Chance to reach the quarter finals where they will play the winner of Brazil V Chile. what Colombia have now is what most sides would Relish, conidence and self belief are flying and they have built up a nice bit of momentum with each victory. I expect that at best they could manage to beat Brazil or Chile in the quarters and make the semi finals... then Germany or France would knock them out. |

The Germans and French are yet to be tested too, so let's not go handing them the trophy just yet.

Still don't think Colombia have had a test. So on the one hand, Brazil will show if they're real contenders; but on the other hand, might work to their advantage since they've been able to get this far without needing to find extra gears yet. Looked impressive today.

on the evidence we have seen Colombia have a great chance to beat the one man band that is Neymar and Co.... Brazil are a massive lay

Nice info glossy. I knew nothing about Columbia before it started but they´ve been the most impressive side in the tournament for me, a real breath of fresh air from some of the stodgy performances from the so called better teams. Open, fast and flowing attacking football, love to watch them.
If they can beat Brazil - which I think they could do - they will have a great chance of going all the way. |
