How the **** did FIFA award the first Dutch goal against Brazil to Sneijder.

Were they watching the match? Did they see the goal?

Agreed. Joke decision that smells pretty bad too. Can imagine it will leave a number of top goalscorer/ topgoalscorer place bets in dead heat land.

Under the rules of the game it should have been credited to him in the first place.  The trajectory of the ball was clearly on target imho.

I take your point clydebank but surely the TSG should take into account whether the player was having a shot or crossing the ball first.

A blind man with a stick could see that he was merely crossing the ball (and badly at that!).

not really relevant unless you want to strike off all goals that weren't completely intentional
Report sugarfoot July 5, 2010 11:05 AM BST
and ffs, how could you call that a bad cross?  created defensive chaos
Report db1974 July 5, 2010 11:08 AM BST
So you admit that it was a cross and not a shot then!

Simply would not have been a goal if Melo hadn't touched it. Its Melo's goal.

They're trying to screw Suarez backers, getting back at Uruguay in anyway possible - disgraceful

I'm kicking myself a bit because during the Netherlands/Brazil game and for an hour or so afterwards I was continually checking the FIFA website to see if they were going to re-credit the goal to Sneijder.  I left a back of Vittek up to finish top 4 aswell the day after which was obv taken.

I remember UEFA crediting Joe Cole with a goal against Bayern Munich when his shot was going 6 foot wide.  Every other source gave it as an own goal from memory.  Cost me quite a bit that one.

why the stress over this? it was going on target so i was suprised to not see it given to him in the first place.

I recall FIFA doing similar in 2002 , giving Ronaldo (Brazil) a goal when his shot heading well wide was miskicked in by a Chinese(?) defender.
