Would he have got it? And would he be able to command £6million a year?

I doubt they'd ever have a german coach tbh

The point I am trying to make is that we pay Capello £6million a year, and then he gets outwitted by Joachim Low, who probably cant command anywhere near £6million a year. What the hell are the FA thinking?!!

Ah yeah seems a bit much, we pay Craig Levein £50 and all the shortbread he can eat
Report ALLWEATHERKING July 4, 2010 2:58 PM BST
not a big enough name for the FA amateurs.

Got outwitted

You do realise the England players are 5hit?

You still think its all Fabios fault, that he cant get Heskey to play football LaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Heskey didnt start against Germany. Even Fabio admitted he made mistakes. When you pay £6million a year, which is 10s of times that of most of the other managers at the World Cup, you do not expect mistakes!

Its like paying the rates for business class on Virgin Atlantic and getting Ryanair service!

The problem is that you cannot teach the english players in depth tactics, it is in their dna to hoof it after more than 5 passes.

yes, crapello should take most of the responsibility for a poor WC imo.
Report Saluting Darren Lockyer July 4, 2010 5:05 PM BST
yes of course blame capello, any manager would struggle rying to organise our players, they're technically bereft as sonko says

In time you will learn that with management comes responsibility, young Darren.

I hear people blaming the players, which of course is partly right.

However it still seems wrong to me when ur losing 4-1 against Germany the manager brings on Heskey. Anyone in their right mind wouldn't bring on a forward who cannot score when their is the option of bringing on a tall forward with an impeccable international scoring record who can be used as a target man. At that late stage in the game the only option of getting 3 goals is by pumping high balls into Crouch who can either score himself or lay off to incoming players.

Also playing 4 central midfielder's when their is the option of using Joe Cole.......

absolutely...............for the first time in his illustrious career he found himself in charge of a bunch of players who posessed neither technical acumen or the ability to carry out simple functional tasks.

You're not going to like this, but here goes.

I expressed the view to my mates 5 years ago that English football is in almost irreversible decline and following the path that Scottish football went down about 30-40 years ago.

It's rotten to the core.

Two of the biggest clubs are owned by Americans who are following a business model that was (and still is) unthinkable to normal fans - load the club with hundreds of millions of debt and use the annual revenue to pay of the interest and pay yourself £10-20M.

The national team is completely subservient to the clubs, to the extent that Ferguson is the cheerleader for every manager who automatically withdraws players for national team friendlies.

Above all, children play from 7 years old in competitive games where they are not applauded for touch, balance, control and passing but they are screamed at to either hoof the ball upfield or "get stuck in".

The reason England won the World Cup in 66 was because the national manager could dictate to Shankly, Busby and Nicholson what the players were going to do, the FA was not in hock to a character like Rupert Murdoch, and the players had been brought up playing street football - no slide tackles, no referees and if you could dribble (remember that word?) you were automatically one of the first kids picked to play.

End of rant.
