Please could an experienced betfair member help me with this question.

I Lay a bet i.e. 'Brazil NOT to win the world cup' made just before kick off of the semi final. The result of the match is Brazil Lose to The Netherlands, Do I win my bet or does this bet only pay out if Brazil get to the final and lose?

Thank you in advance.

Are you being serious?

Yes, please help - I'm only using Brazil as an example though, thank you

You win if brazil lose in semi-final or final.

Thank you MRGRUMPY1 you've put my mind at rest as I layed this kind of 'Lay' bet (NOT TO WIN THE WORLD CUP)a few days ago, then started to worry that I had got it wrong.

Best wishes LaserEnvy

P.S your user name is Teriffying but you're kind and helpful really

No, you have got it wrong.  If you lay brazil not to win the world cup, you want them to win the world cup.

Thank you for your comments everyone.

Thanks to MRGRUMPY1 helping me with the answer I'm all sorted. But for those of you who have also commented can I clarify as some of you are right I could have written the question better.

I wanted to bet 'LAY' on a team 'to win the world cup'. Meaning: I didn't think they would win the world cup and if they didn't, I would win the bet. The team in my example (Brazil) was not the team I had LAY bet on - Brazil was only used as an example.

My worry was, does it make any difference if the team lose in the quater final, semi final or final - would I win the bet.

Thank you
