Germans didn't have much a problem with it, but they've been playing with the new ball in the bundesliga the last 6 months or so.  The premier league could not use it due to existing contract with Nike.  I think with the England friendlies they did play with the new ball?

We need a shoot on sight policy for Defoe, Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Johnson... they should just tw*t the thing at goal from anywhere.  No more placing your shots in the corner just tw*t the thing.  Did you see the way Podolski just blasted the ball and it swerved away from the keepers hands?  None of this deft curling it into the top corner like Spain were trying to do.  Won't work.

Bit harsh on Defoe - he hasn't even played yet!

I know they aren't all that but a shoot on sight policy is a bit harsh on these fellas. Perhaps first we should put a warning shot over their heads?

If we had an english manager, he would get crucified for the lack of preparation, not using the supermarket ball, taking injured players etc etc..
Same old England, at least we are getting our excuses in nice and early!!
Report kincsem June 17, 2010 10:02 PM BST
Its a ready-made excuse.  They can't complain about the pitches, or the heat, and the refereeing has been good.

Limited to complaining about the ball, not being good enough, and foreigners.
