Don't normally do this but I put aside a reasonable bank for the World Cup and thought I'd try to increase it match by match by about 2-3% as a kind of holiday fund....
First game: Laid S Africa to win 2-0 Second game: Laid France and traded out Third Game: S Korea v Greece - backed over 2.5 goals and traded out Fourth game: Backed Argentina
Now, I've never been a patriotic punter (I've had my fingers burnt backing England in the past) and they haven't carried a penny of my money for many years. But, last night, I honestly believed that England could not possibly fail to win that game and decided to really kickstart my bank. So a big chunk of it went on our boys.
I was at a party watching it with no PC access (but that didn't bother me because England could not fail) so, after Gerrard's early goal, I couldn't trade out. I don't blame Green (England had the second 45 minutes to get the winner) and USA were never going to score again.
So why did jump in with both feet? It beats me....
Anyway, that's it for me. No more bets on this WC. Just going to enjoy the football.
The other bets I have already placed are: Brazil, Argentina and Germany (Dutched to win the cup - will be looking to trade out later) and Group E to produce the most goals.
never mind. the world cup is on again in 4 years time. also, i disagree with your comment that america were nver going to score again. they came within milli-litres of scring a second. ps milli-litres are smaller than milli-mitres which gives you an idea of how close it was.
